I've found the best way to level up tactics is to sneak into an allied castle that's under siege, just doing that will earn you several skill points.
@HistoricalGamingYouTube18 күн бұрын
Ah, okay. I actually never even thought to do that. Very good information for anyone who does a tactics run in the future.

You get tactic for every troop that fall in battle. Just take all units from your companion's party's and enjoy XP.

I found a money bug on Xbox. I captured Danustica and sold my Hero prisoners at the tavern I own the town so I can look in the dungeon The prisoners I just sold are in the dungeon So I take them out and sell them at the tavern again They go back to the dungeon Repeat this process a bunch of times and I now have 5 million gold

You can earn tactics points when commanding troops in battle, im not sure how significant the amount is though. And some skills help in commanded battles, so you might be able to physically lead some battles if you wanted to mix it up to break the monotony. Just noticed this is your first video, good luck to you sir. Already subbed looking forward to more.
@HistoricalGamingYouTube16 күн бұрын
Yes, great point. I think a really good strategy could be to do battles early on so you can solo looters and stuff like that, and then switch to auto battle later on when you are dominant just to finish up the playthrough. Thank you very much for the sub!

@@HistoricalGamingKZbin seems like the less you move or the more you are behind units ranks it up? something like that, because the few battles I've had where I've just sat there behind my line and gave some basic orders is when I notice tactics click up like 2-3 levels.
@nothingtoseehere82996 күн бұрын
To quickly level your tactics get as many troops as you can get and raid enemy lord villages for troops. When they catch you sacrifice some soldiers for power leveling. It gives a lot of xp and you can get up to 200-250 with 5 perks and 8 cunning in about 1 in-game year

That was a pleasant watch, such a nice change from the shouty and meme laden videos that seem to be the norm. This concept, however, looks like it would frustrate the hell out of me, at some point, don't you just have to grab a pole arm and get involved? I think Tactics would be great when paired with the top skills for "Captains" and "Party Leader" stuff to give all the units nice buffs.

There is a mod on PC that lets you take both perks. I did a playthrough with it and I became op very fast. It's probably best you can't.
@warmad25968 күн бұрын
@@thomasnlynch I am aware of it and love it. I believe it's best we can and instead of picking one of the other kind of wish they had it so we could earn them all one unlock at a time. Same with the enemy lords as well. Which is why it bugs me. Personally, they have a great concept just I disagree with the route they took with it is all.

Subbed, great video, like you've been doing it for years. Do you have a plan for what's coming next?
@HistoricalGamingYouTube17 күн бұрын
Thank you very much. General plan is do games based (if sometimes loosely) on history. Things like Bannerlord, CK3, etc. Videos probably won't be very frequent as the focus right now has to be on improving the quality, not just pumping out subpar content. Also, these take some time to complete just by their nature. For example, even with send troops, this playthrough took several weeks to complete.

I'm only halfway into the video so i'm not sure if you mention this later BUT in my experience i've noticed that using commands in a live battle will yield you tactics rank ups as well as only using simulations. If anyone has a concrete answer if this is more or less than just sim would be nice to know!
@HistoricalGamingYouTube9 күн бұрын
I didn't mention it in the video, but you are right that it does get trained in live battle as well. However, without specifically testing it, just going off my memory of playing both ways, I think doing auto-battles trains it much faster.
@randylahey483114 күн бұрын
you can level it also by let you captains in mary to take over which would be F6 button
@rockybalboa561115 күн бұрын
Field battles are excellent to simulate but always checking what army composition and advantages and disadvantages are for battlefield. But never simulate when you are injured because probably no bonuses are used. I was fighting 1050+900garison vs 2800 empires. Able to fight them 3x to cut down numbers (TW should fix this hack) and 900x800 simulation goes badly with alot of killed units. Have to look deeper to analyse this situation. I could take them easy with defending but I like to level up leadership and give all troops to my companion which benefits from my 275 tactic army leader perk.
@piratefrogg16 күн бұрын
Why didnt you break into the caste at 11:54 , you would have 100% won the battle. I mean for a simulating battle build a siege defense is pretty much the best case szenario right?
@HistoricalGamingYouTube16 күн бұрын
To be perfectly honest, I think you're 100% correct now that you mention it. I got into the habit early on in my playing days of never using that because I don't like to take the casualties. But in this situation it would have been beneficial.
@philjohnson174413 күн бұрын
I rarely get more than halfway through a cunning playthrough before giving up.

Tactics wins you siege defenses. The sht my tactics skill managed to pull off... my 100 and the 200 militia slaughtered 2000 empire attackers. no way in hell to defend this difference in manual battle. but the hidden bonus the wall level of the town or castle gives to defenders in auto resolve, absolutely crazy.
@HistoricalGamingYouTube10 күн бұрын
Yeah, the wall level is huge. When I'm doing a normal playthrough, I rarely bother with taking down the walls. But in this playthrough, taking down the walls was pretty much a necessity.

funny. I must have 1000 hrs in the game & tactics is one of my essential skills, especially late game. breaking in to defend sieges s the only way to play siege defense, & field battles between 2 armies of 5k each are just too long & should always just be autoresolved. men are cheap, time is precious ( especially when most casualties tend to be lower tier troops which can be easily replenished with no negative penalty , by just forcing notables of villages you are at war with to give you recruits )

I feel like for specifially this Challenge, you could have just given yourself the desired amount of tactics, instead of grinding it for hours on end. But you do you, maybe the grind has some Advantage. Also as im watching this video, you seem to be more or less ignoring the medic trait and siege traits, which give massive advantages to simulated battles

For a short guide on the tactics skill, that would probably be a good idea. But this was more of a test of its practical application in a playthrough, including how difficult it is to level up.
