Banshee VS LT500 pt 1

2nd time out on a new/rebuilt LT500. Still learning the powerband and how to ride it. Missing shifts, learning to launch, adjusting shocks. Beat by pretty much every Banshee out there,,,, this time. ;) Learning to edit the gopro files too so be patient.

Way too long between shifts, it's over revving. That 500 has lots of torque, should be shifting about every two seconds.

The motor is about as built as a 92 octane motor can be. Don't get me wrong HORIZON, I appreciate your input. Keep in mind this was a fresh rebuild from Tudors. Literally the first time out after a break in. I didn't even know where the powerband was ;). I was doing what I could to not blow an extremely expensive motor up. Was it embarrassing? On that day, Absolutely! All the mistakes in the vid were mine either in the setup or driving. The motor is flawless. Even the Banshee riders (that I let test ride it) said it was sick fast bordering on scary/dangerous (even the 4mil Banshee guys). In the end, it is what it is, Round one goes to Banshee. Next season, well I'll add a couple teeth to the rear sprocket, get rid of the dune tires and put on some flat paddles and we'll see what the Banshee's have to scream about. I'm in the middle of a complete frame off restoration so it should look pretty sweet too (in the winner circle). Keep checking back, I'll have more vids coming (with better editing) and vid's of the Harley and Yamaha Nytro

Very true. Br Di. A couple more trips and the motor was good and broken in. So I could get on it a little harder. Recently I added a set of custom shaved drag paddles. It is hard as hell to keep the front end down now. Even leaning over the handle bars,,, anything over half throttle and the front is lifting in 1,2 and 3rd gear. And this is with a 4" xtended swingarm. The twist throttle wasn't opening the 41mm carb all the way so I have a customized thumb throttle now. Along with new cables. The suspension was set waaaaaaay to stiff and way too high. I admit this video sux, but it was the maiden run on a reassembled/resurrected LT. It's running correctly now. Putting about 65 hp to the ground. Keep checking back. When I get time I'll upload the new vids I have.

Thanks for the comment. This is a tudors motor and i'm more than happy with it. In this vid, this is the second tank on a new motor. And my first quad build. All mistakes are 100% mine.Most of the problems are incorrect setting on the gear shifter and old cables. Now Im stomping 2 mil banshees and hanging with 4 mills. (on dune tires, not drag tires) enjoy them when I post them. (I may let CT build my next 250r)

you need to shift quicker... big bores are not made for high revs... they are super high torque, and will pull much harder if you stay in the mid range

I used to have a lt250r. they're fun when they run. Unfortunately I worked on it more than I rode it. I switched to a banshee and never looked back.

I have owned a couple of LT500. They are very comfortable to ride but not fast like you would think they would be. Banshees are good drag racers but don't handle very well. It is hard to beat a well built 1989 Honda 250r as always was my favorite all around quad.

Banshee has a lighter frame and a stringer faster pulling motor than the lt500 that's why the shee is the king of the dunes 350cc twin is no doubt the hardest pulling 2 stroke on the market now put a efi kit and t6s with a 421cc cheetah kit and well ya got a dune/dirt killing machine

Morgan Cure first time on that quad yes. Brand new motor barely broke in, shifter in wrong position, sketchy brakes, it's all in the write up. It's dialed in with a DR Q 535 motor and pipe, elka stage 3 shocks, frame off gusset and powder and the right paddles. No one wants to play with me any more :).

Because zillas are old, and you HAVE to use the clutch, I'm guessing your 400 is semi automatic? I used to have a Honda the same way, then I traded it for a zilla, I haven't looked back, even though I blew the motor the first day

+Badass Videos no you dont have to use the cluch to shift.... its a tiny bit faster when u get it down and thats why people do it.... i dont use cluch on the banshee unless im shooting the moutain up here in utah or when i downshift

I'm 15 and my zilla is bored 160 over, piped, jetted, 6" extended swing arm, k&n filter, and paddle tires it's pretty much a built race bike, I've won against turbo raptors, and alcohol stroked banshees, this guy just doesn't know what he's doing

According to Dirt Wheels magazine, The banshee and the tecate 4 both top out at the same speed, -74mph bone stock, and a 500 quadracer is only 2 mph faster at 76 mph. So the quadzilla is not THAT much faster. The Banshee is lighter and has 2 cylanders that make up for the 150cc difference.
