I've been trying to make party decks work since Zendikar. Tried Bant, W/B, Esper, Abzan, U/B . . . could never make em work. Most recently was like 2 days ago when I tried making a Bant deck with Shapeshifters. Literally one sentence in your video, where you talk about cards like call to adventure not doing enough because they're not creatures, turned it all around! Today I went like 15 and 2 with a version of this deck on the platinum ladder. Thanks so much for all the great advice and content!

I really liked the idea behind the party mechanic and have also revisited it now in standard 2022. I focused too much on coveted prize tho, making my party inconsistent and my deck becoming more of a control type than aggro. I hope you can make a deck around Coveted Prize as well, I think that card has a lot of potential

Yeah, I was trying to make Bant Party work back in Zendikar. I think all the Party related cards are a trap and its the Party creatures which make it work. You only ever won with the full Linvala, Kor Squad Leader and Archpriest combo in any event.

The version of the party deck I run has Nimble Trapfinder instead of Luminarch and Realmwalker instead of Linvala, you can also make a pretty sweet Abzan party list with Harald, King of Skemfar, which works really well since most creatures in the deck are elf, warrior and/or changeling.

I run elf surprise party. Lots of elves and changelings, all things that go decent in an elf deck, then a surprise coveted prize for the win. Nice thing is that the elf Paragon can also search for elves, so it looks like it fits fine in an elf deck and Harald, King of Skemfar can grab the Squad Commander since he's a warrior.

@@MetalHeadedNoah In the Bant list you usually name Rogue, the deck is mostly rogues and creatures that are all types. In the Abzan list you usually name Elf (or Warrior). Yes, you will miss Archpriest and Squad Commander but the Realmwalker is as much there as changeling party glue as it is for playing off the top of the library.

yeah it's pure nonsense, but apparently they decided to never repeat gimmick between expansion, wich is in my opinion super dumb. Snow lands? forget about it. Learn? same. Mutate, Party, Dungeon etc.

If you don't have four Tazri's or spare mythic wildcards, Veteran Adventurer is a decent uncommon that can fill that role and might actually be better in some circumstances.

47:08 I made a deck around Elemental Expressionist just for fun, the idea is to cast a bunch of cheap spells(copying is even better) while targeting one of your creatures with the ability and finishing by casting Unsummon on it, then you get a ton of 4/4 in play at the same time. Not sure why he was playing mono-blue though, he might have been mana screwed because red has a lot of nice spells to go with it, and First Day of Class usually finishes the game on the spot when you get the chance to go off.

Elemental Expressionist is a very confused card. It wants you to perform various magecraft triggers on a creature that would die/get exiled, plus maybe a sacrife outlet (IN IZZET) to create that many triggers of 4/4 elementals. Abzan Vito Gainlands is a more consistent strategy than this XD

I have a blue/white party deck that uses Maskwood Nexus. Maskwood Nexus is hilarious against Crippling Fear. Maskwood Nexus also lets me run a couple of Cyclone Summoners on the top end and achieve a completely one sided board clear, because the Nexus turns all of my creatures into wizards/giants so they stay when the Cyclone Summoner enters the battlefield. I also wanted to have Faceless Haven as another way to complete the party when I really need it.

Why is Epiphany so good? I see it as a sorcery that makes 2 hasty 1/1 fliers , plus growth spiral. I don’t really see the value of casting in a board state like 16:23
