I am currently watching Counrty House Rescue, (2011), so I am sad to see things didn't really get any better and your dear husband and father has passed away. It's such a shame that these beautiful old homes fall into the too hard basket for the local governments to help out with restoration.

Yes I too was just watching country house rescue. You would think the government would offer some kind of low or no interest loans that would help a family keep the house and the contents together for historic reasons.

Stickapopple house should and must be preserved, the Great Earl Diddlepoodle was my great great grandfather,and he was much loved by the local yokels in West Offaly,even though he considered them savages. It is amazing that old Diddle as we lovingly referred to him,put in a staircase that was upside down,now and this is important,when he was going up he was coming down and of course when coming down he was of course going up, nobody knew whether he was up or down!!my word !how we laughed !!Old Diddle had the most infectious laugh, his nostrils used to flare like a donkey,and he could be heard braying in the drawing room!!!

Honestly I don’t care. Get you a normally sized house like everybody else. It’s 2022, no one family needs to live in a mansion. One in every two Brits are having to resort to food banks right now, now that’s a real problem. These houses should all be turned into either museums, housing apartments or hotels. Also this land was taken from the Irish back in the day anyway, it’s stolen land, it’s not yours.

Sour grapes because it does not belong to you....History is part of every countries legacy including wars won and lost its sad that British and Irish people have lost their pride in the history and memories of these old houses....good or bad its stunning and should be kept as is if possible even if you turned these old houses into museums or hotels by selling of the original furniture makes it just another building...

They don't need you to care, they will do better out of their furniture auction than you will ever do in your sad, jealous life! 🙂
