I noticed a few quirks about these radios in the States: #1 - The batteries do not seem to hold up well, even when the radio is turned off something drains the battery down.. #2 - You MUST reprogram these when you get them however I have come across places like Applebees and other businesses using them on the factory set test frequencies.. #3 - Yes the volume is too loud. I went in mine and put a resistor inline to help make it lower. #4 - I have seen people using these in FRS channels here in the states which would be fine post 2018 however these radios have no FCC certifications and no FCCID on them which in turn makes them an illegal radio transmitter in the US on any band now.. So they are virtually useless here even for Ham radio which is dumb IMO. #5 - In bench testing I found the radios I have operate best between 460 - 468 MHz. this is where theyr TX power is greatest and RX sensetivity is best at least in the units I have received which illudes to suspicion baofeng trying to market them for the part 95 and part 90 bands but the FCC didnt approve them.. They do work fine on 440 Ham but the sensitivty is weakened and the TX power is also lower.. I do believe baofeng actually made this radio to try to get into the PMR / FRS radio market because by design it does meet the requirements except it is not hard VCO locked to channels like a proper FRS or PMR446 radio. baofeng does now however make certified FRS and PMR446 radios and they have a new product list that includes FRS and GMRS (for the US) that allow digital texting and GPS and operate at 2 watts on allowed channels.. They are also planned to be low cost but not yet available to the general public yet, not even for youtube review and testing.. guess they are still working out some kinks or waiting on the FCC to stop dragging ass on approval.. I suspect Trumps trade war is holding things up also.

Just got my Baofeng from Ebay. Went to test it out as in your video and discovered that it won't read or write. The cable I'm using is the Baofeng "USB charging cable" - according to the user manual. It definitely does charge. Is there something different about the programming cable that makes it distinctive? The ones I look at online look virtually the same as I have!

And why does it always start at MAX Volume when you turn the radio on ?? Quirky radio. I only bought it because it was cheap. The battery and cover where a pain to fit. My cover kept popping out at the base. The side rubber cover keeps flopping open. Also slightly annoyed that is didn't come with a cable to program it. had to wait 4 weeks to use it. The CD rom doesn't seem to have the software to program it. So glad i found this video and the link to software. Work like a charm. Man that volume is loud even set to one bar. Something like this would be great for your passenger to use so he or she can guide you & your 4x4 & help you take the best line & put the wheels where you want them so you don't get stuck or hung up. These radios are cheap so breaking one won;t make you have to wait for that next payday to buy that new upgrade for your rig. I wish that this radio manufacturer would make a fully optioned hand held unit that is a CB., HAM. & police scanner etc. scanner. Kill some boredom by doing some ambulance chasing. This radio/scanner shouldn't be frequency blocked anywhere unless you have to press a factory reset key located in an easy to push location to keep you out of trouble & hook up to a car base for programming & charging. Maybe Baofeng will read this & manufacture some nice equipment for us? By the way, has anyone been able to program the Baofeng GT3-TP radio with Win-10? How about Win.10 & this Baofeng T-1?

what is the output power?
@Nickkko9997 жыл бұрын
1W according to the spec sheet.
@jimmygerilius84946 жыл бұрын
Mine does 0.5 W, or 1.0 watt according to manual. Press and hold the ON/OFF + LAMP (about 2 seconds) at power up, and it is 0.5W. Repeat this process again at power up, and it toggles back to 1.0 W

Tried for hours. Never got mine to work once. I keep entering the frequencies and saving but it just never picks anything up. Garbage product.

Hello everyone - I researched the web for the pinout of the micro USB b and found none, I did some experimentation and was able to produce my very own programming cable. It is hard to order ebay on where I am, so I am sharing to everyone the link for this info through my google drive. Hope this helps someone out there : drive.google.com/open?id=0B9KN2telLUlDUGtIYVZPdVF5OTQ

Your welcome Chris, I also have an advance one, on 4:50 of your video, you mentioned about the loud volume that seems uncontrollable, I was able to fix that, here is a link for that: drive.google.com/open?id=0B9KN2telLUlDLVRMNFc3WlB0cTA

Thank you for this. I'm going to attempt this mod while I wait for my programming cable to arrive. Quite unbelievable that this radio ships with such ridiculous volume.
