Looks interesting, almost reminds me of an old mobile phone from the 90’s with a UV-25 shoved in it. I’ll probably snag one of these to play with. Thanks for the video young ben.

Cheers Neil, yeah it's certainly got that 90's mobile vibe lol. Thanks as always for watching 👍

How about the aviation band reception?
@m7frs2723 ай бұрын
Hi, I haven't properly tested it on airband yet. Keep an eye on my future KZbin shorts. Thanks for watching 👍 ✈️

@@m7frs272 I have purchased a Baofeng UV17 Pro GPS. It is suposed to be good for aviation reception. After testing, it is totally rubish. The voice quality is very poor. In comparison with a hand-held scanner, the scanner has perfect audio. The radio also has a number of other problems, such as the battery level is either full or half-full, the receving sensitivity is poor.

Nice one Ben , I see the same menu as the 25 that I am testing for you, with old eyes I find it hard to see. I wonder if you have come across a colour setting to change the menu colours or anything in the baofeng software that would make this possible? Great content as always. Thanks for your time and effort as ways, 73 de G0VCW.
@m7frs2723 ай бұрын
Thanks Richard. Unfortunately not. I don't think it's possible to change the menu text colour. I see exactly what you mean and your not the first to say it. I'll drop an email to Baofeng support. It maybe something that could be fixed with a firmware update or at least not used in future models! Thanks as always for supporting my channel!

Red type on a blue background what were they thinking, no banks/zones, I'm not a fan, the UV17 Pro GPS still takes some beating
@m7frs2723 ай бұрын
Agreed on the UV-17! Yes, definitely a mistake with the red menu text. I'll drop an email to Baofeng, so hopefully they won't use that colour in future models. Thanks for watching 👍

I have purchased a Baofeng UV17 Pro GPS. The performance is vert poor as compared with Retevis RT3S. The reception sensitivity is low, the aviation reception is totally useless. The battery level has only full and half-full.

I will believe it when a wattmeter or spectrum analyzer SAYS it happened. I have had a boatload of Baofengs, and not one that was rated at 5 watts made it to 3.8 watts, I expect failure because of past behaviour. So, rated at 11 watts, shows just over 7 on 2 meters. Fail. It did make 11 plus on 70cm. Failed on 2m.
@m7frs2723 ай бұрын
Agreed. It's actually rated at 10 watts. Definitely strange how it manages 11 on 70cms and only 7 on 2m, especially when the UV-25 performed the other way around. Still, not bad for the price! Thanks for watching 👍

@@m7frs272 Well, 2M bring my primary band, I think I'll pass until 2m rig comes to market that I like. One thing to remember, operating a handheld on high, ventilate it well, I had three final RF transistors due from heat. They get expensive.

ffs Why do these Chinese radio manufacturers Give you Cheap radios to all you ''creators''. We're not stupid We know what goes on, it's never going to be a unbiased Review. A cheap Chinese radio is a cheap Chinese radio Whichever way you spin it And not even a proper on air review You can do better Don't worry I'm not clicking on the affiliate link to gave you any money. While I'm having a rant Why do all you ham operators always have your call sign somewhere about You videos, Can't you remember who you are. what's the point

You're clearly not content with the last time you made a fool of yourself on one of Ben's videos, then? You sound very bitter. Cheer up '"ffs"
@spigot9933 ай бұрын
No one cares if you’re not clicking affiliate links, Baofeng’s stock won’t tank because you’re keeping your £20. As for the callsigns, it’s called basic etiquette-something you clearly can’t grasp while you’re too busy crying in the comments. If you’re this triggered by a review, maybe ham radios aren’t the problem; maybe it’s that you’ve got fuck all better to do. So, do us a favor, sit down and whinge somewhere else.

Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. The reason we are given radios for review is because it's much cheaper advertising for them and subsequently keeps the cost low for consumers. Just for your information, non of the links I post are affiliated, so I don't gain any commission. I do however many a small amount of money on people watching and commenting on the videos, so thanks once again for your continued support for my channel 😉👍 As for the illuminated callsign, I can't answer for other creators, but mine was gifted to me by a friend and it just simple fills the space when I'm filming landscape on the bench.
