Great build, couple quick questions: 1. Would you be able to lock the box? 2. How would this hold up if it got wet? 3. Would there be a way to make it waterproof, I would be worried that the wood would warp if it got wet. TIA

Mark Rogers Nailing a sheet of roofing tarpaper to all the sides or raptorlining the whole thing would it waterproof quite easily

Very cool design! Approximately what is the weight of that bad boy?
@BaptismOverland6 жыл бұрын
Not too bad. It IS a bit heavy (I'm guessing maybe 30 lbs??) so keep that in consideration but I found that a lot of stuff people are building to put in the back of their jeeps are just as heavy anyway. I know trunk drawers etc tend to be heavy also.

Would that center hole be big enough for a fire extinguisher?
@BaptismOverland3 жыл бұрын
I actually had mine in there for awhile :) but it kept slipping and sliding. I put the strap in there as well but then it was so narrow that it was hard to wrap the strap around the extinguisher. I don’t want to have to fiddle with it in emergency situations
@bhobbs313 жыл бұрын
Do you have room for the freedom panels back there?
@BaptismOverland3 жыл бұрын
I do but it's awkward because of the levels on it. That's why I built a new system that utilizes the room a lot more. You can see that build on my channel
@browneye13695 жыл бұрын
Great build. Especially the Pelican cases. How does it hold up off road? Love the HE>i hat too. God bless
@BaptismOverland4 жыл бұрын
It’s held up great! It’s pretty snug in there. Inside the tool box though there’s a magnet strip to hold tools and it tends to pop off when I hit bumps so I’m going to have to remove that altogether

3/4" plywood is overkill, 1/2" or even 3/8" would work fine
@BaptismOverland4 жыл бұрын
Normally yes. But where I live, there’s a lot of humidity in the air. 1/2 and 3/8 plywood tends to start warping after a few years so I made sure the outside was as rigid as I could get it. It’s held up fine. The interiors are 1/2 though

Old video. I actually have a new system now. But it's still wood and I haven't had any problems at all. It's been great. Coated with truck liner and haven't had any rotting. Is there a reason wood doesn't belong in a vehicle?
