ガラさん、お酒飲もうとしたタイミングで話し掛けられると、相手の話が終わるまで絶対お酒を飲まないの、好感度が上がるし、 Dieさん含めてDIRのメンバーは、後輩に対して偉そうに振る舞わないところが良い。 BooさんはARCHEの時に京さんへのインタビューを頑張ってるの見て好きになったけど、 メリーをムックと呼び間違えたり、後輩へのリスペクトが感じられないと誤解される言動をする所だけはだめだと思う。 それ以外は、滑ってるところも含めて大好きなんですけどね。

Happy New Year, this is the first one this year! Let me introduce today’s guests - Die from DIR EN GREY & Gara from MERRY! D: Happy New Year! B: Ok start with you, Chan Die. D: Hi, this is Die, the guitarist from DIR EN GREY. G: And this is Gara, the vocalist from MERRY. B: We are already drinking but cheers! This mug looks very small if I hold it like this. D: It’s size S, isn’t it? Lol B: Like a “Super Size Me” drink cup from McDonalds! So this is the first one this year. Die and I have been thinking to do this for a while. Previously, DIR EN GREY Kaoru and Shinya were on this show, so Die is next, And I really want DIR EN GREY to be on the show from time to time because we get along very well. I was talking to Die and he said Gara is a good one to join us. But I didn’t know how you guys know each other. D: Well, at the beginning, I was looking for any musician friend (junior/senior) to invite, But I don’t really hang out with other musicians and don’t know many junior friends. In fact, I am not very sociable or not good at taking care of others. B: Noooo, not true! D: So I realize I don’t know any junior guys (pretending like he’s checking his phone) but then I realized I do! That was Gara. G: Ah it was good that I sent you a New Year’s greeting message. Perhaps my name was at top of the list on LINE app. LOL It really made me happy though. Boo contacted me. I said I am free on that day. D: Great that it all worked out. Perfect timing. G: Die san and I haven’t talked properly. Off-work yes but I think this is actually the first time we appear in the media together. D: Yeah, never appeared on TV or anything anywhere. B: Agree, never seen before so I thought it would be interesting to have you two both today.

5:31 G: I was a roadie when I first met Die. About 20 years ago. D: The year when DIR EN GREY just formed right? G: Yes. Die was contacting me where and when the next live will be etc, every time. B: So Die was a contact person? G: Yes, he was to inform me of next live venue and time. D: By phone right? G: Yes lol D: Back then, we didn’t have emails. B: So Gara was a guitar roadie? D: No no, back then, it didn’t matter, there were 2 roadies at the beginning. Gara wanted to be a vocalist. The other guy wanted to be a guitarist who was quite funny. When we did live concerts at Shinjuku Loft for 2 days, I asked the guy to check my guitars before going on the stage. While I was waiting, he came and said “Die san, the guitar sound is distorted.” I replied “No good, the “clean” can’t be distorted. Can you go back and check again?” He said “Die san, no matter how many times I check, the “clean” is still making weird sounds.” I said “Come on, I definitely need the “clean”. Go back and check again.” He said “No”. I asked him to bring the guitar to me as I was worried if something was wrong with it. He brought me the guitar and I thought it looked normal and just looked at the shield cable and The cable was only half-plugged!!!! Lol I was like “Wait wait wait, where should I start teaching him?” “Hey you want to be a guitarist, right!? It’s not connected properly!?” Once it was properly connected, he checked again and said “Now it makes great sounds.” Lol I said that was quite obvious!! B: What do you mean by “clean”? D: The sound is not distorted and clean like I can do cutting etc. Back then I was using a JC Amplifier which is known for clean sounds. I was frustrated at that time because we didn’t have professional roadies and I cdouldn’t go onto the stage without good guitars. G: I didn’t really know much about any musical instruments. I was just carrying them around. B: Wooow G: I didn’t know how the instruments worked but I only knew how to set up the drums for Shinya san. He marked everything which parts to connect with which and the heights, etc. D: The members of DIR EN GREY were all kind right? G: Yes. They never got angry, not even once! B: Really! D: True true! G: DIR EN GREY look scary almost like they are unapproachable but actually not at all. B: I remember how they looked like when they made their debut. G: I only have good memories with them. B: Were there MERRY members as well? G: Not yet. B: I see. Did the other roadie become the member of MERRY? G: No no no. D: So funny if that guy would be a band member with him. Lol G: For the first live concert, I drove in the morning and picked all the DIR EN GREY members up, And accidentally the van touched a bus on the street but no one was angry in that difficult situation. They were quietly waiting in the van. B: They seem to be always angry at me though! Lol D: Nope, we are just teasing you, nitpicking you. Lol B: Earlier today, when I stumbled over my words, they pointed me out so quickly. G: Good relationship, isn’t it? Lol

10:20 D: When we went to Osaka together, that was the first time for Gara to visit Osaka in his entire life, I said “Gara, Look, this is Osaka. How’s the view?” And he said “Huh? Really? It looks… shabby..” LOL Do you remember that? G: Yes lol B: Oh oh, you turned all the people in/from Osaka into enemies. G: But I am from Gunma prefecture and was expecting to see more famous tourist places like “The Glico Running Man” etc. D: We were on the highway, just entering the city of Osaka. Just a standard view of Osaka. I asked “How do you like it Gara?” And he said “Huh? Shabby!” LOL Wait for a second, that’s where we formed DIR EN GREY. So disrespectful! Lol G: I am happy that Die you remember that even after 20 years. D: Yes I remember that very well. Lol G: I had a more gorgeous image of Osaka, the famous Dotonbori area, etc. D: We didn’t have a chance to bring you there. G: I remember also the first time visiting “Kamukura Ramen” shop was with DIR EN GREY. B: Was there Kamukura Ramen from that time? D: Yes, when I formed the previous band, there was already. G: I heard it is amazing ramen and I was impressed with it when I first had it. B: Me too, I was very surprised when I first had Kamukura Ramen. D: I used to go to Kamukura Ramen twice a day when I lived in Osaka with the previous band. Once in the afternoon and another after the live performance in the evening. I really liked it. But now, things have changed. Things which were only available in Osaka are now in Tokyo, like Ichiran Ramen from Fukuoka. When it becomes available literally anywhere, I don’t feel like going there anymore. It no longer has the value. B: I always go to Yama chan when I am in Nagoya. Misen from Nagoya is also available in Ginza, Tokyo now. D: Yes yes yes. I don’t want it to be available everywhere. Where do you go and eat in Nagoya, Gara? G: I didn’t really eat the famous chicken wings but after a while, now I feel I want to go and eat. D: I often visit Nagoya and I feel I should eat it at least once. B: Do you like Unagi? (eel) D: I couldn’t eat them before because of the small bones. Because of that, I couldn’t really eat any fish. I don’t like bones. I need to remove the bones to eat right? Why do I need to? No fish in general. I am afraid of tiny bones of Unabi because they might be stuck in my throat. B: You can’t eat Hamo (pike eel) either. G: I didn’t know Die doesn’t like fish. B: I was asked by the producer of this show beforehand if Die and Gara like urchin or oysters? I said it is ok for me and let me ask them and your replies were both “No. No raw fish.” I also heard that Gara’s parents run a Sushi restaurant. G: Yes. I have seen sushi too much. I haven’t eaten any sushi. I’ve never had urchin before. I don’t like how it looks. Who would’ve thought to eat this? I can’t eat if I look at the original shape. Chicken too. Chicken legs.. oh no. D: How about the chicken for Christmas? G: Oh no! Can’t eat at all! I like Karaage or any other chicken meat because the shape is different. No Kentucky Fried Checken for me. D: If you go to China, there is a hotpot with a duck’s head in it. G: Omg, not for me. D: The eyes are closed. G: No no! D: The comb shows up first when you scoop. Back then in China, one of the roadies said wanted to try and when he ate, one of his teeth got chipped. Lol It’s not that we recommended him but he did.

15:55 G: There are many roadies after me for DIR EN GREY and it was either to “eat” or “drink”. After I quit the DIR EN GREY roadie, I was scared of after-parties although I enjoyed watching the live performance. There were so many bottles of Shochu and wine on the table, all lined up. All the time, we were thinking how to escape from this but failed every time. I used to drink some milk before going to after-parties for reasons I don’t fully understand. B: I heard it’s meaningless. D: It’s psychological. G: Tequila was brought in before you know it. Almost we had to drink.. D: Wasn’t it for Kaoru? G: Yeah including Kaoru’s too. B: Who drinks the most? G: I think it’s you Die who drinks for a long time. D: Yeah I think so too. G: At the party, Die, Toshiya and CIPHER san (from CRAZE) were drinking wine, many decanters, one after another. They asked me for more wine so I ran to a convenience store and bought some grape juice. And added to the decanters. Lol I felt it’s too dangerous if they kept drinking more wine. But nobody noticed that it’s actually grape juice. Lol B: Similar story to comedian Ueshima san who got drunk with soda split “water” when his friends Put water in one of his liquor bottle. Lol That’s so funny Gara! Let’s check out some comments. D: In fact, I appreciate that, Gara. G: The way they used to drink was so dangerous. D: CIPHER san is the one who trained us the most. B: True true.

19:09 B: Any interesting comment? Where are you guys viewers drinking? At home or bar? Let’s do another toast. Kanpai! I heard from some people that this show makes the viewers feel as if we were drinking together with us. They said they can get an idea of how we are usually when we go out for drinks. D: As if you guys are sitting next to us. Ok, another toast! Hold up your glasses! Toast to grape juice! Kanpai! Lol B: Gara, that’s thoughtful of you though. G: I’m glad you said that but I was just scared of them getting so drunk and they might come to me! Just to protect myself. Lol D: I already had too much that I couldn’t notice that it was grape juice. G: The party was big but at the end, only those three were at the bar counter, drinking heavily. B: How much did you drink? D: When CIPHER san was here, he was still a member of CRAZE. There was CIPHER’s favorite wine at the Italian restaurant we always went to so we just kept drinking together. And we had a weird rule that we couldn’t answer any of our mobile phone calls. The person had to chug a drink in one go whenever he answers any calls. Like if the person goes outside of the restaurant to pick up a call and when he comes back, CIPHER says “chug it”. B: I always wonder who pays when you guys go out. D: Somehow it’s all managed. Lol B: Eh? Isn’t that CIPHER who pays for the most of it? D: Yes.. there are so many stories I can’t tell you here. The times have changed now. B: Yeah, now the times have changed and we have BPO (The Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization in Japan that deals with complaints and ethical issues brought against broadcasting content). I think it’s ok to talk about anything as long as the TV personalities are ok with it. G: I think the people shouldn’t imitate things they watch on TV. B: Die san, more wine? D: Yes, please. B: How many bottles/decanters are you thinking to drink tonight? D: At least one bottle? B: This bottle is almost empty.

D: I’m surprised you went there, wasn’t it snowing heavily? B: Yeah it was snowing, I wanted to get there a night before but trains to Shinagawa station were not running although bullet trains were. I gave up and waited until next morning and it stopped snowing around noon. So I went to a parking space and fell backwards onto the snow. But my first try was actually on concrete. Lol The snow was unexpectedly shallow. After trying about 5 times, I posted a photo on Instagram. Once I was on the wet soil. Lol D: What would you do if there were hard rocks underneath a little bit of snow Lol B: It is so dangerous if there was a rock! D: Too dangerous in the city. The snow is really shallow. B: When I went again to take another photo, there were young guys making a snowman. And all my traces were gone. Next morning, there was only a bottom-half of the snowman Lol They probably quit in the middle. Were you guys affected by snow? G: We are actually on tour to go around all 47 prefectures in Japan. When it snowed heavily, we were in Akita. When we left there around 11am, we got back to Tokyo at 7am next day. We were driving that day. After eating Yakisoba in Yokote, we got to Saitama via highway. After that, our car was moving only 400-500 meters per 4-5 hours. B & D: Nooo! G: I had to pee outside standing up although many people were watching me. Lol D: I heard the traffic was stuck on the Rainbow Bridge. B: I would go crazy if I had to stay in the car for that long! How about you Chan Die? D: I was staying at home, working on something. B: Kaoru said he was also staying at his home that day. D: I believe DIR EN GREY members were all staying at their homes, didn’t go out. B: The director sent me a photo of people lined up for Keio subway line like people coming out of Saitama Super Arena after a live concert. Terrible! That day, I went to a supermarket and bought a lot of meat after going to the gym and I was lucky enough to get a taxi to get home. D: Tokyo is weak when it snows even if the snow stays on the ground once or twice a year. B: I don’t think Tokyo don’t need to be “strong” for snow because it rarely snows! D: Yeah snow doesn’t stay on the ground at all, if it does, it paralyzes traffic in Tokyo.
