There is research data to back up Josh's preferences. My rule of thumb is that I basically only use pie charts for a binary dimension (ie, it can only have 2 possible values like Passed/Failed, Living/Dead) and include a measure of % of whole. I use the same guidelines for donut charts, which are worse that pie charts because they exclude the central angle of the pie, which is your primary means of visual measure, and people are terrible at that anyway. I also like donuts to wind around clockwise (for whatever the positive value is) because people have a lot of experience watching a clock and can interpret the % of rotation pretty easily.

As an Indian, your background made me smile :) Come over to India, you love the culture anyway it seems, I'll also not mind grabbing a few private tutoring sessions xD

My "two year plan" involves a trip to India - maybe a StatQuest tour where I give StatQuest talks in a few different locations.

Pie chart is perfect to describe bars. And bar graph is perfect to describe pies.

Charts have something to do with frequency. For absolute frequency, use bar charts, for relative frequency, use pie charts and for cumulative frequency, use line charts.
@statquest2 жыл бұрын
I'd still argue that bar charts are better than pie charts for relative frequency because it is easier to identify small differences.

Is that a tabla behind your left shoulder?

Yes it is! I haven't played it in a bit, but I have a few other north indian instruments - one of which will be featured in my next song (which will come out on November 1st).

I genuinly like the way you explain those things. But I have noticed that Earl is cheating.. Seems like Earl is having almost 25 hours a day - 7.5 + 8.3 + 4 + 5.. I would like to be Earl.
