I have the impression that the Serbian team is somewhat underestimated precisely because of Jokic. I mean, he is so good that it is very hard to notice that the players around him are also very good. After all, Serbia won silver at the 2023 World Cup without Jokic (NBA MVP level player) and Vasilije Micic (Euroleague MVP level player). It's impossible to do something like that without a strong team, but like I said it's hard to see that when Jokic is on the court.

Trust me, everyone was noticed in a game against US. Your team couldn't miss itll the 4/4. You were draining 3s for 3/4 at impossible %. It had to stop. It's not realistic to shoot the whole game like that. Anyway, if there is a basketball (in US) or a sports fan in general (in Europe) that didn't know who Bogdan is, he learned during that game. He kinda reminds me of Luka a little bit. Not skills wise, of course, but his demeanor, I want to win at any cost mentality, but I only see it in NT games. He cares more how will Serbia perform at FIBA World Cup, Olympics, EuroBasket. That guy lives for playing for NT. Jokic also enjoyed, he was clearly the player of the tournament, but Jokic probably won't play for 4 years now. 2025. EuroBasket will be held at Finland, Poland, Latvia, and Cyprus. No way he is losing 2 summers in a row on NT. Then, in 2027. we have FIBA World Cup in Qatar, country that organizes World Cups in every team sport (Football, Handball, Water Polo, Basketball...). Again, he isn't losing 2 summers in a row. He will play at the 2028. Olympics in LA. Anyway, everyone remembered Avramovic from the game too. He was shooting good too. Guduric also. You were shooting 50% for 3 in first 3 quarters, and 0/9 in the 4th.
@NikolaIvanovic-pu7hg
@NikolaIvanovic-pu7hg Ай бұрын
@@AVAXII You're probably right. Even when it comes to our three-point shooting. The shot had to stop at some point and it stopped at the very end. If we had hit at least 2 of those 9 three-pointers (or if Jokic had not made his fourth personal foul), who knows what would have happened. In any case, a good game and in the end a medal for both teams. A tournament to remember.

I totally agree with all Obama said except when he said that international national teams play together all the time. That's not true at all, all international national teams that have NBA players in their roster have the same problems that USA team has. If the international players in the NBA decide to go with the National team to play the qualifiers (only a few did it), USA players could do the same, if they don't want to do it, don't use it as an excuse later.
@ViktorTheButcher
@ViktorTheButcher Ай бұрын
Well, while the other countries with NBA stars have the same issues to some extend, there is definitely a significant difference. Those other nations only need to plug in a couple of new players from the FIBA World Cup into the Olympics. There is a difference when you just need to add 2/3 star players or be like the US and have 10 different players on a 12 man roster and one of your two remaining dudes was a star at the FIBA World Cup played barely to not at all at the Olympics. The former is normal year to year roster change, the latter only works because in basketball with the US basketball team because it's the only major team sport where you can simply overpower the opponent by sheer more talent.
@Gerclun
@Gerclun Ай бұрын
@@ViktorTheButcher That's not the case with the favourite national teams, obviously Canada because like USA they have a lot of NBA players, but France, Spain, Serbia etc. They have less NBA players but their main Euroleague players didn't play the qualifiers either, they had to fill the National teams with 2nd and 3rd level players. The only advantage is that their calendar finishes a bit early, but not so much compared with the NBA players that didn't make it to the playoffs. At the end, I think the main difference is the level of commitment to your National team, and USA players don't show the same level of commitment that great international players showed, like Giannis, Nowitzki, Gasol, etc that always were available to be selected, even knowing they won't win or reach the finals. But I know is a cultural difference, for a lot of international players nothing can beat to win a gold with your national team, and USA players usually prefer to be NBA champions than a gold medal.

How can you say the US has the most talent if they barely beat a country with 50x smaller population. Former Yugoslavia countries have the most talent by far for sports. Tall and athletic. In terms of pure numbers, not relative to population, the USA does have numerical superiority in terms of Basketball talent. That’s a fact, not an opinion. What Serbia has over America, and almost allowed them to almost get over the edge, is heart, pride and as president obama said, continuity of having played together in a system for a long time that team USA just don’t. The way youth basketball and how they are represented in FIBA over the age is very different to the way USA treats youth international basketball - which counts for something

The big USA basketball stars still beat Serbia. With the help of judges, but that is not important. The important thing is that they won, right!?!

International basketball hasn't improved lately, actually national teams have gottten worse since 90s due to the breakup of URSS and Yugoalavia, so unless smaller countries like Spain, Greece, France . can gather a generation of nba level players there is no match for team USA
