To mask other noises in the house, you might try a white noise generator in your son's room. It makes a sound like static on a radio channel and helps reduce perception of other noises. My kids find this type of thing to be very comforting at night. Good luck!

My guy, you need to try my favorite build. It's a CPLT-K2 with dual HEAVY gauss. It's extremely situational and you don't put up huge dmg numbers, but 1 shotting lights and cracking open assaults in 2 volleys is incredibly fun. I have the build optimized if you'd like the exact loadout

You've stumbled on a build similar to the Table Top Cougar A loadout, insofar as weapon tonnages and locations: Two LRM 20's with Artemis, two ERML, one SPL, 4 tons of LRM ammo (two in each arm). Given the slow speed of the Cougar, using LRM's which do better damage at longer ranges, and which arc over obstacles, enable you to hunker down in the middle of your battle-group and provide fire-support to your teammates.

i had a similar load out before watching this video. 2 nights ago (6/31/2019) i did a similar build but with 2 ATM 3s and 2 large pulse lasers. got 4 kills, 3 assists, 1 solo kill and did about 894 damage. cougars are fun

Carrying (or trying to, at least) in a Cougar! That's craziness! Nice job in both matches. Not your fault your team couldn't capitalize on your efforts. I really want to try ATMs, but I suck at staying mid-range. I always push too hard and end up in-your-face brawling, which would be OK, but I seem to be unable to learn how to twist damage. I've been playing a long time and PGI thinks I'm good enough to be in tier 2, but I'm really not.

Get your son an empty bottle of window-cleaner. Dekorate it beforehand with all sorts of colourfull stuff, and write "anti-monster-spray" on it. Fill up with pure water. just a little gesture, nothing harmfull, but works quite well, in a lot of cases.

you should gift your son his own army of little battlemech figures and tell him that from now on the weird noises he hears are the monsters being obliterated by the mechs. just make sure they are not too scary themselves.

Put a white noise machine in your child's room. Mine likes ocean noise it really helps them fall asleep. Its 3 years late but maybe it will help with child #2 or 3.

Lieber Baradul, bitte verstehe diesen Mech in seiner Gesamtheit: ECM! Ohne diese Ausrüstung überlebt er nicht lange und ein light tag um LRM support zu erhalten und die ATM's geziehlt zum Feind zu führen. Zudem gibt das ECM den "Orks" auch noch einen taktischen Vorteil. Dann kann man das Potenzial dieser "glass canon" voll ausspielen.

I actually took a Cou-C and swapped the ST for the E variant then threw 2Heavy Large lasers, 4 Heavy mediums, an ECM, then filled the rest of my pod space with double heatsinks. Had to go operations and get the heat containment/dissapation nodes. It was very good though. I use a similar build as your cougar for my Sun spider though!

what does the override do?

if the mechs build up too much heat from firing the weapons theres a failsafe that shuts down your mech to keep it from being damaged by the heat. if you ovverride,youre overriding that failsafe. so you wont shut down but if youre too hot youll blow up.

It can be pretty useful, and I, for one, can definitely feel the difference in how sluggish my 'mechs behave, or not, especially in the lower speed ranges. It's much harder to tell the difference above about 120kph.
