Oh my god I laughed so hard at the end when he said "you don't go see a new movie and come in at the middle and then go out and take a shit and watch the end" or whatever. Haha! I love him so much. He's so awesome. Smart guy too.

I currently have EVERY single piece of music Trent has developed on my MP3 to date. His music gets me through my day, without it I'd be all sorts of angry. Trent thank you, your music is a gift to us all, much appreciated.

yarijohn: Good reply my friend. Don't let the crude, ignorant ones calling out for attention ever get to you. You're very well spoken and have valid points that are as sound as they are well written.

i agree in that i hope future bands record albums like an audio journey where as it wouldnt be the same just playing a couple songs from the album every now and then Only, but like the whole album should flow together like a little movie..then albums would be exciting again!

In the 80's , musically, hip hop was progressive, but then again rock used to be good too.
@neosamurai116 жыл бұрын
I agree if you are talking about the mainstream scene, ala 50cent, which I think Reznor seems to be referring to mainly here. But there are some fascinating underground hip hop artists, the likes of MF Doom, Dalek, Kool Keith, Saul Williams etc. And I think Reznor knows this, probably why he just produced Saul Williams new record.

No worries! Any interesting conversation is always welcome! :) I might be wrong about the most played videos though... it could be that I just watched Head more times than the rest, or just happened to catch it more times, lol! I don't know where to find the statistics for this either... could've been interesting! :) But I guess Head was kind of a new thing back then, and a kind of "instant hit", easily accessible to most people.
@The90sGamingGuy16 жыл бұрын
I just laughed at the comment on "You don't watch a movie go out and take a shit and come back." The comment on CDs and mp3s is very true. I usually prefur to download 320 kbps or FLAC.Also to you uploaders that are uploading albums. Upload them in full and in good quality!
@livefortheday17 жыл бұрын
Wow...I completely agree with you on everything you've typed.
@baramartin15 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're right! Maybe they put the ep:s name there instead by mistake? (Wish is on Broken) Or maybe they meant the Broken Movie, where the Wish video can be seen? Either way, it 'should' have been the song's title here, not the ep or video! :)

" you dont go to a movie half way though, leave to go take a shit and come back" buahahahaha! Trent rules.
@baramartin15 жыл бұрын
Well, they couldn't include all the videos there, right? ;) No, it wasn't banned in Sweden. We still had MTV Europe back then (1995) (before getting MTV Nordic most of the time), and the only thing 'banned' in the video was the F-word (I think). No beep, just silence instead ("I wanna ---- you like an animal"), just like on the radio edits of the song. Not sure about our other channels though, silence or not, but no ban that I can recall.

Yes,after listening to the question again, it does appear that the interviewer was being a bit condescending towards those bands.

@baramartin15 жыл бұрын
Hm, yes, I have no idea why they picked the videos they did. I think Head Like A Hole must be NIN's most played video here, then maybe Closer, so they should have shown it. But the clips in this interview were quite short anyway, probably because of lack of time.
@nedim_guitar14 жыл бұрын
You gotta love the Swedish public TV. "There is no fucking you, there is only me" is not censored as "there is no fffffffffffffff you"
@Dhakadice12 жыл бұрын
He actually says that he's already been bitching about it enough but it's just the way he likes to enjoy music. Also, he only asks for you to listen through the entire thing once. :P
@jw894515 жыл бұрын
Its so funny that they talk about hiphop being dangerous, with a black man pointing a gun at you, and then they show Will Smith for like half a minute! I love Scandinavians.

yeah he writes stuff that has meaning unlike all the other bands do

He should just not split his albums in tracks. Just have it as one track, if it is meant to be heard all together.
@gregpasq15 жыл бұрын
No, it's a perfectly good question. Major labels are ruining music.
@Usethebanana13 жыл бұрын
@jw8945 It's a pretty bad example. Will smith was never about pretending to be a gangster, he and Jeff were always about party type of hip-hop, rhyming about girls, parties, school, parents, everyday stuff. They never claimed they were dangerous. A better example would have been 50 Cent, Lil whine, Souljah boy, Chamillionaire and all those other buttplugged wannabe gangstah's, Sellout rappers that went pop.

Trent is absolutely right.. According to what he said about ' listening to the entire record'' Thats pRETTy hate machine right there buddy! all the way thru! Each and every song!

I sometimes download things just to check them out, then i buy them. I don't have much money to throw around on cds if they suck. Also DRM is also why i don't use itoons, too much restriction, not enough freedom.

In a lot of european countries (especially the big ones, like germany), people are so bad at english that there's no point in censoring english lyrics. :P (Also, considering the way french, spanish or basically any mediterranean people curse in everyday language, censorship on TV would seem rather strange)
@badluckshadow1317 жыл бұрын
nope he's on unbridled awesomeness.

sweden is great in that sense, no censorship. there are probably more countries than sweden that don't censor swearing on tv, but still! :)

5 bucks, is not much to spend on an album you can download on the internet, even if you're checking the album out for the first time.
@Passion4Rock8817 жыл бұрын
i realize that.
@baramartin15 жыл бұрын
You didn't hear the rest of what he said? Allow me to quote Mr Reznor once again: "hip hop ... has become so incredibly stale ... some of that music out now is the worst music ever." I.e., hip hop Was dangerous, but copycats turned it into crap. Smith being one of them ;)
@Depechexb17 жыл бұрын

@mdhookey17 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with him about hip hop. Also an early fan of it, loved (and continue to love) Public Enemy and Tribe Called Quest...but the current climate in hip hop is some of the worst music ever.

I think u misinterpreted the question. Listen to Trent's response
@chromosomedivide15 жыл бұрын
This poses the question, what music does he listen to?
@poolboyinla15 жыл бұрын
I think music right now is the worst it has ever been in America.
@sickboyduke15 жыл бұрын
its not about hip hop or rock in general.... he talks about an developement in music history. you can't say that hip hop sucks....you can only say,that its kinda sad what has become to that music. but look at all the other genres. listen to some chart rock. its gunna suck at least as much. there is still good music on every gerne...but its not much,cuz the companys support good selling shit

he has just expressedevery problem i have with this whole online music thing u cant hold the art and the presentation of it all it deminished. not to mention cds sound better than an mp3 lol
@Dhakadice12 жыл бұрын
What the having sex are you talking about? Yeah, you could translate it into "fan" or the adjective "djävla" (which are both equivalent to "damn" and "damned" respectively), but most swedish people will react to the sexual nature of the word. An american saying "Are you fucking with me?" to a Swede might get "I wish" as a response. ;P

@ryan2125516 жыл бұрын
MP3's do have bad sound quality. A lot of people brag about how many songs they can hold on their mp3 player, but there's a reason for it. Because it sounds like crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@baramartin15 жыл бұрын
just listen to Trent: "hip hop ... has become so incredibly stale ... some of that music out now is the worst music *ever*." -that's probably why Will is there! ;)
