They should have shown up for the toss and expressed their concern.

I was told at 6'olock the players were told play would be starting at 6.17,no way can players be warmed up in 17 minutes to start a game.

2.7.1 It is solely for the umpires together to decide whether either conditions of ground, weather or light or exceptional circumstances mean that it would be dangerous or unreasonable for play to take place. Conditions shall not be regarded as either dangerous or unreasonable merely because they are not ideal. The fact that the grass and the ball are wet does not warrant the ground conditions being regarded as unreasonable or dangerous.

a 6:17 or thereabouts restart was known ahead of time even before the umpires told them at 5:45pm... The management should have known that a minimum of 20 overs could start by the latest 6:17 or thereabouts.. so they should have been periodically warming in anticipation that the match would have started at 6:17 or thereabouts

Are you saying that TV rights are MORE important than the safety of the players? look it is RUMORED here, that one of the Countries involved have already gotten hold of some of its top Lawyers to hammer CWI into submission.

Since when umpires have the power to start a rain affected without discussion with both teams to come to a reasonable conclusion then our cricket is back to the slave masters time

Wasn’t that always how it went? The umpires make a decision and then informs the captains. The captains are not part of the decision making process
