For me, Barbara is the best American soprano. (Best equal maybe - I love Leontyne Price, and Beverly Sills also). I was going to mention Victoria de los Angeles, but found she was not American - always thought she was. Barbara is special, as she is a wonderful soprano, and a very modest character, probably unique in the opera world!

Patricia Martin Hi Patricia! Fach means category or voice type - lyric, coloratura, spinto, etc. It's a German term.

I think she can appreciate the enthusiasm of the amateurs. Plus if an amateur takes voice classes, they can only improve. I know a lot of gifted amateurs.
