Lovely. Masterful. The text came through clearly and the Great Shepherd of the Sheep, our Lord Jesus shone through the music of Handel and the superb artistry of Ms. Bonney. Notably, with her lovely, balanced range she was able to sing 'both' arias -- the mezzo soprano before the modulation to the higher key and then the soprano. Oh, and thank you for the diction, for the Bible text is the word of God Almighty. As a singer I recognize the talent, the labor, and the investment of many years of hard work this performance displays.

I have an electronic carillon which I play (bell recordings) for my neighbors every Sunday evening at sunset, and last evening I played this tune and now I can't get it out of my head. I'll bet Handel was overjoyed to meet Jesus when he passed over. I can imagine the embrace Jesus gave him for having delighted so many people for so many years with his heavenly music dedicated to The Living Christ!

Except that, paradoxically, after you attain that control, singing right is the easiest way to sing. Once you are able to get out of the way so to speak. At least that has been my experience. I totally understand that others might have different experiences...

I just adore this...perfect tempo, gorgeous singing and playing. Bonney's legato and perfect delivery of the text (complete with proper English vowels) is delicious. Her transition from alto to soprano voice is seamless, and her discreet fiorituri are wonderful. Just can't love this enough.

This is a great performance with Ms Bonney singing both sections of the aria which are more often sung by Alto then Soprano voices. She sings both beautifully and has a great range and wonderful top end . I am old and have not heard this sung with such calmness and perfection ever .
