Roy Rogers was one of my favorite Heros growing up and still is today. Great singer, great actor, and great man. The "King Of The Cowboys" was very deserving of his title. He showed several decades of young boys how to be a good man. The good ole' USA owes Roy Rogers a great debt of gratitude for helping bring up a whole generation of young boys that turned out to be much better men, just by having him as an example..

GREAT STUFF. ROY ROGERS WAS ONE OF MY GREATEST HEROS GROWING UP. HE ALWAYS STOOD UP FOR WHAT WAS RIGHT AND ALWAYS WANTED ALL THE KIDS TO HAVE A GREAT EXAMPLE SO THEY COULD GROW UP TO BE UPSTANDING ADULTS. HE TRUELY MADE THIS EARTH A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE ON. AND I LOVED BARBARA MANDREL SINGING "I WAS COUNTRY WHEN COUNTRY WAS'NT COOL". AND NOBODY COULD YODEL AND HARMONIZE ANY BETTER THAT THE SONS OF THE PIONEERS.

I am about to turn 78 and great memories remain of my early saturday matinee films in the 1940's where Gene Autry Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy were always the good guys who overcame evil - simple themes but far more uplifting than some of the films and music today - they made you feel it was a good thing to stand up for whats right and had a formatting effect on young boys of my time

+Len Greenhall Glad to know this nostalgia, isn't just me. Watched Barbara Mandrell and He-Haw with Grandad, for years. Too bad everyone is leaving on a new journey. God bless you Sir!

I still have my little milk-water Hopalong Cassidy mug! I remember those matinees. They cost 5 cents. They'd leave us hanging to hope that the hero got out of that impossible situation he was in.

You can still hear this style of music Roy Rogers jr and Roys grandson Dustin(Linda and I have met them)still sing daily at the RFD Theater in Branson. The Sons of the Pioneers sing daily at the Shepard of the Hills in Branson. This year it will their 80th anniversary. No band in history has ever been together this long. Roy Rogers started the Pioneers in 1932. Earl and Linda Butenhoff Owatonna, Mn

What a treat ! Thanks for posting this. I have a CD, "Roy Rogers and Friends," where some of the country stars from about 15 or 20 years ago join him to sing some of Roy's greatest hit songs. Every one is a gem. I also have 2 CDs by the Sons of the Pioneers (more great stuff).

I DON'T LIKE THIS SONG VERY MUCH, AS I'VE HEARD SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFULLY HARMONIC RECORDINGS FROM THE SONS OF THE PIONEERS ( "CATTLE CALL" PERHAPS? NOT THE ONE THAT USES EXTRAS --THE MUSICAL ONE) -THIS ONE GOES BY SO FAST IT'S LIKE A "RUSH JOB ON A BLUE GRASS', BUT I SURE DID LIKE HAL SOUTHERN; HE LET ME DO SOME OVERDUBBING AT HIS FRIEND'S STUIDO, I THINK COBRA RECORDS, UP ON LANKERSHAM BLVD YEARS AGO; AND WAS SO HELPFUL (AND ANONONYMOS TOO?!) TO SO MANY OTHER MUSICIANS! ROY AND CLIFFIE STONE WERE PRETTY GOOD FRIENDS, BACK WHEN BYRON WALLS WAS WORKING WITH TAD MALONEY, AT ASCAP, AND REFERRING ME TO PUBLISHERS. THEY WANTED THE SONG "BEAUTY IS AS BEAUTY DOES" TO PRESENT TO ROY AND DALE , BUT I COULD NEVER GET A REPLY FROM "DUSTY" THAT MADE ANY SENSE. WELL, IT'S A CHILDREN'S MUSICAL NOW---SO THE ANSWER TO ALL OF THIS MUST BE, JUST KEEP WRITING---GOOD BAD OR INDIFERENT-JUST KEEP WRITING ? SEND THAT TO CHRIS STONE-HE REMEMBERS THE NIGHT OUR PATHS CROSSED, AS MY PERFORMANCE AT THE PALOMINO CLUB CAUGHT HIS EAR, AND SHOOK HANDS WITH MY DATE, JOE LILES, AND HE SAID TO ME"ROUGH BUSINESS FOR A LADY, LYNDA'., I ANSWERED , "GOOD THING IT'S JUST MY HOBBY, RIGHT ? TWENTY YEARS LATER THIS GUY IN NASHVILLE -SCOTTY TURNER---WHO TAUGHT SONG-WRITING, WHOM, WHEN HE MAILED ME A CASSETTE TAPE OF HIS ADVICE, HE REMARKED, THAT (SINCE I LIVED ON EVELYN WAY, IN RENO, NV) HIS MOTHER'S NAME WAS EVELYN---TRIED TO ENCOURAGE ME TO ENTER A FEMALE SONGWRITER'S GROUP IN NASHVILLE THAT WAS ASSEMBLING; HE ALSO SAID HE TRIED TO ESTABLISH THE AUDY MURPHY MUSEUM; HIS DREAM, HE SAID; THEN SAID CHRIS STONE, WAS MARRIED TO HIS DAUGHTER ?! SMALL WORLD OR MISTAKES IN TRANSCRIBING, RIGHT JOE?

This was done live on tv, not the way to make the most perfect recording. Also, Roy was the last of the original Pioneers, the originals were far superior to the later versions. "Way Out There" is a fast tempo song.
