Barbara Mason's song "Yes, I'm Ready" was a smash radio hit in 1965. I was 16 years old and I will never forget her beautiful voice.

There was an innocence and naivete with young ladies back in the day. I always thought she was a virgin, singing about a possible first sexual experience. She was in love. That's how it was back then.

@@Dabridge4009 I think in the 70's. Folks started doing drugs and things loosen up. Love lost some of it's sparkle. The Vietnam War. A lot of things changed. The Whispers had a song, Living Together In Sin. "Shacking" was frowned upon. Pregnancy out of wedlock, How Can I Tell My Mom and Dad, (that I've been bad) a song by The Lovelites.. Those things were not cool. Now virginity has very little value. It's a shame really. The time when as a girl, you just wanted to be married and in love. That's gone.

@@rosemarywatson1231 yes yes....and by time i was a teen it really faded....and to see now on social media and television with these shows like teen mom, unexpected (pregnant) all of these shows with these young people having kids and going through hell in their relationships shows how Society has gone off the cliff....and it just seems like nobody cares the way they used too...it's sad...like, right there are no r&b singers, no groups, no songs and if they are they arent signed to a major they are just putting their music on KZbin and you dont know who they are.

@@Dabridge4009 So true! I saw a show, MAFS, where an attractive young man married an attractive young woman. He decided to divorce her because she was a 26 year old virgin. He did not want her virginity. He wanted an experienced woman. It was heartbreaking. She was crushed. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but corporate American broke up the family. The husband worked, the wife stayed at home. Now everybody works. The Hippie Moment bought in that free love. I saw things change, but my group of friends all married young. We wanted the old school situation. Now sex means nothing. My young friends do all kinds of sex acts that we thought were very special for a special person only. For them it's all out on the first date. No love. I don't know if we can get that back, but we need to try.
