Welcome To The Basement" is a show about watching, discussing and having fun with movies. Matt choses the movie and Craig doesn't know what it is until the cameras start rolling, so none of the discussion or riffing is planned ahead of time.
Movie announced on facebook before every new episode. Get the movie and follow along. We do discuss the entire movie, including the ending, so if you want to avoid spoilers, watch the movie first.

On Sofia Coppola in Godfather III: One of the over-arching themes in the trilogy is the effect of nepotism on family enterprise. As much as Sonny threatens ruin to the family in The Godfather, Sofia herself is the poster child of the Undeserving Offspring in Godfather III. Mary Corleone is the lynch pin on which the family crisis is tied. I think she's perfectly cast

If you want a film with special effects that actually tie into the film (unlike Barbarella), then you need to see Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters. Directed by Paul Shrader and based on the real life Yukio Mishima, it effortlessly blends surreal images along with equally unbelievable true events.

I'm wondering if you guys have seen anything with Fredric March. He won 2 Oscars and 2 Tonys (the only actor so far to have done so) but is largely forgotten now. My favorite movies of his are "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" from 1931 and "Design for Living" from 1933 (with your not-so-beloved Gary Cooper!) but he was also in "The Best Years of Our Lives" "Inherit the Wind" and "Death of a Salesman."

Seen it? Encounters of the Spooky Kind. A great martial arts horror comedy from Hong Kong directed by and starring Sammo Hung. Also, in case you wanna watch another Bollywood movie here are a few recommendations: 1. Once Upon a Time In Mumbai (2010). A fun gangster film. 2. Special 26 (2013). A heist/ con film set in the 80s. Based on a true story. 3. Ram-Leela (2013). Romeo and Juliet with guns, singing and dancing. 4. Johnny Gaddar (2007). Brilliant neo-noir.

I could have discussed it when you first brought it up in the creation of Talent Grenade, but the way I see Princess Bride is a demonstration of the good and bad types of ham. You have the bad ham in some of Cary Elwes's choices, especially his delivery of the big "AS YOU WIIIIIISH" While falling down the cliff, and you have the good ham in every single choice Wallace Shawn made during the movie. It tilts a bit more towards the good than the bad, aseptically thanks to Mandy Patinkin, but it always seemed like a movie that wasn't totally sure what it was after tonally.

Seen it, It Comes at Night? It got a pretty shitty reception by most casual movie-goers, but I thought it was fantastic. A post-apocalyptic monster movie (yes, that's right, monster movie) that only hints at the monster. Instead it focuses on the human tendency towards paranoia in such dangerous situations. Perhaps the best part was the fact that it only hinted and left clues about what's going on, leaving the interpretation and realization of the situation up to the viewer.

Then, just recently we were at our local theatre and watched Pulp Fiction for the umpteenth time and realized that there is a gaggle of films that could use more editing, but would be nigh impossible to edit and ensure continuity.
