I have noticed that the french VA is actually pretty vulgar in some of her taunts without outright using outright swears. She pretty much alternate between some proper speech and acting like she sees you as some subhuman filth that deserves to be shitalked in her more enthusiastic lines. The english VA kinda sticks with normal death threats. That's a pretty interesting localization choice. For anyone interested I will translate what each french line really means next to the official english line. -Such rich, exquisite ... / Your Aether looks so tasty -My hair shimmers with anticipation / My hairs seethe with anticipation -I'll slaughter you all / I will fuck your maw up you bunch of losers (this line is probably the one that's the biggest outlier the french equivalent for fuck here is not as vulgar in french but it's pretty much a swear that has both the meaning of rough intercourse or completely obliterating someone depending on context. It's not generally seen as a polite word. The second interesting word here is maw, which in french is also a soft swear word that when spoken towards someone means that you see them as animals as only animals have maws, humans have mouths. It is also extremely rude) -Dodge this if you can! / Take this! And that! And also that! ( Basically someone gloating as they punch you in the face repeatedly, she is not telling you to dodge.) -I'll make it quick/ Are you gonna croak or what? (Instead of saying that she will kill you rapidly, she is mad that you aren't dead yet. Note that the word uszd for croak here is actually slightly more vulgar in french without being a swear like the other two) -Feel my fury / Nya ha ha ha (I don't think I need to explain) -Know your place/ You won't get away from me you miserable larvae (the english equivalent for larvae in this context would be worms) So yeah, she's mad

A side quest gives some back story on Barbariccia (basically young frail polite woman caged by monstrous parents breaks free and become the absolute opposite of what she was : free, loud and rude af) and I think that's why the French localization is so vulgar for her character

@@seboulol Not all, one of the biggest (and welcomed) change was Haurchefant, back in ARR his voice acting was awful to the point they changed the Voice Actor for heavensward Also, little fun fact, Raubahn is Voiced by Frédéric Souterelle who also did Kratos Another because I love it: Pierre Tessier, the French voice actor for Thancred is also the voice actor for Arthas, Mario in the upcomming Movie and the French voice of Ryan Reynolds. So in French, Thancred, Arthas, Mario, Deadpool and Detective Pikachu all share the same voice, I just love this sentence

Honestly as a French and healer, I had a blast on this fight both Normal and Extreme fights (thanks to the French VA somehow, but also the fight itself). Last time I felt this was maybe with Susano and Ravana. Strangely all of them love to fight :)

Japanese and Frenchh are the best ones imo. She sounds definitely insane there, matches a boss who pounds the ground around in a tantrum and smashes everything around with a giant sword. ENG sounds way too calm and collected... I'm not sure what I even make out of German, I can't understand enough to know > .

There's something so unsettling with the laugh in English - wish I understood French so I could compare. German - as usual - is very unusual in word choice but it fits. Honestly like all the VAs because with Barbara you can't go wrong, she's such a delight of a fight and character.

The Japanese one really suits her best, u can hear the Lust and excitement of blood in her voice. She definitely fits Barbarriccias character. The English one sounds too chill / relaxed to me and there's nearly no hornyness in her voice when she's slaughtering people. The German one does a oki-ish job but her dialogues seems random und her voice is a bit too young imo. The french VA is just "Nyaa Nyaa Nyaa" xD

Yes, Japanese and the Fresh treat you (WoL) as some Subhuman. Because she feels superior. I mean their nailed it. The English is more an Angry Warrior. These are mostly Warrior Taunts. And the German feels like Hydaelyn got angry. When i close my eyes, the Voice fits more an younger Body as the other 3 VAs. the German version of "Feel my Fury" was on point, the others not so much. "Nichts überstrahlt mein Haar!" would be better

Germans really dub everything. And usually, the quality is fine for movies and most tv series. But holy sh*t, why can't we, for the love of god, make good dubs for video games and anime. I cringe so freaking hard everytime I hear a German FFXIV dub. Completely devoid of emotion and any kind of feeling for a scene. It's really just read from paper with some sort of high german standard dialect and clinically clean intonation - no real person would ever speak like that. It's called voice ACTING ffs.
