Can you discuss different shampoo and conditioners you’d recommend and a routine based off how oily/dry the hair is. More specifically for graying hair that is also thin? I’m curious as to whether because of the graying hair I should be using a certain shampoo/conditioner and drying method. Thanks and good stuff!!

Think he didn't like the admin side of it and responsibility plus increasing rent rates. Prob better suited to his lifestyle to do what he's doing atm I'm assuming? Not sure
@RegalGentleman4 жыл бұрын
What Ron said haha. Dan has a very loyal clientele and is lucky enough to be able to charge £80 for a haircut minimum. He didn't enjoy the process of running a business, and as people that run our own business with Regal Gentleman, we can definitely relate to how hard it can be. It's not for everyone! Dan doesn't work for anybody, he runs his own business, he's just freelance and doesn't have any of the hiring, firing, being the last line in every decision etc.. It can be tough with very little freedom when you have 4 or 5 staff to manage. It can limit cutting time. Dan finds the life of working full days Thursday-Saturday freelance from Hunter Collective in London, with the rest of the week for private clients/brand work/his family in Liverpool works best for him. It's still his own business, just without the big commitments to rent and staff under him
@vinthebarber39824 жыл бұрын
Oh ok. Yes I no you dont have to tell me I own my barbershop I couldn't imagine working for someone our even at someone else's shop. If that works for him god bless. Alittle tip tho in america we dont use the word fringe in barbering that's purely unisex. You need some NY barbers to show you what a real fade is.

1) Are there any types of hair or hair styles you don't enjoy cutting? 2) Is barbering as a hobby a feasible thing to do? Can I cut fake hair as practice etc?

@StrangePath4 жыл бұрын
YES!! I was just thinking about getting this hair.
@maxlandsborough41384 жыл бұрын
@@StrangePath I think if you sectioned a horseshoe and then buzzed the back and sides with an 8 guard to create an undercut shape. Then faded up with a 4 into the 8 and then used a 6 to remove the weight line thatd give a very similar result. Main thing you need with that style is at least 6 inches of hair in the top.

I love love love this guy! He is a true artist and really seems like a sweetheart. I've turned my friends onto his videos, too. The way he does scissors over comb is insane. Your effort of making all videos for Regal Gentelman is superb! Yo did spendid job on each video and each haircut is marvellous. I think the best option for you if you dont want to run your Barber shop, will be set up Barbering Academy. There are many Professional Barbers, but you are above the rest, you know that:-) Maby any plann in the future, to teach people Barbering in your Academy, not necessary from scrach... Could you give a slow and detailed video of scissor over comb? What are you going by when you go from bottom to top. Holding my comb off the head still is hard. So are you bracing the spine of the comb on the head and just increasingly pulling the teeth of the comb towards you as you move up cutting? Also when I try to razor over comb, it is so hard to keep my comb firmly so it holds a line and does not bend as I run the razor by. Love and am impressed with your amazing skills. There is one video, in particular, where a client looked as if he was wearing a t-shirt, but when you were finished, he left with a tuxedo style that he could wear so many different ways. He could be a model! Can you cut an older man’s hair on a round head with recession please?

Hi Dan, Great videos, keep it up! I have two questions. I'm currently looking for a new barber and since there are now so many to choose from its hard to pick one out. Do you have any tips on how to pick a suitable barber before you've had a hair cut there (if possible). My second question is, do you have any skills within or outside of barbering you'd like to develop more? Thanks

1. When i cut a slick back it falls down on the sides and doesn't wanna slick back lol (especially thick/dense hair) is there a method of slick backs, do you keep the corners on all slick backs? I been taught to cut square layers 2. When to use round vs square layers in cutting the top, corners and connecting - i been taught to cut square. Obviously when something isn't sitting right on the client at that particular length, we cut it round/tailor it 3. Why do some people when cutting a crop leave the 2nd section behind the fringe longer? They say its to make it heavier? Do we do this on all crops? 4. How to properly point cut and how to get better/faster at it

Hey Dan love the vids! I have a just question about one of your haircutting videos. It was the Alex Turner inspired haircut and I'm wondering what you would call the technique you did on the sides of Oscars hair where the bottom half is shaved and the top half of his side's are left long and slicked back . Just so I can ask my barber to give this to me !

Thanks for answering my question about 'hair art'. I asked that while I was in a training course, I'm used to classic haircuts, fades and old school cuts, but in the training we were obligated to draw something in someone's head. And I HATED it, and that moment I thought I was a complete fraud as a barber! But, Thankfully it's not my clientele, it was for a course and I won't worry about it nymore!
@RegalGentleman4 жыл бұрын
No problem, Nicole! Yes, focus on what your clientele want. If you want to learn hair art you can when you feel you've mastered more important techniques for you on a day to day basis! It's always good to have as many skills as possible in your locker, but not essential!
