I've had a Barber Direct Drive on my pedalboard for aprox 5-6 yeas now.I have never had a problem...not one.It has never failed me and the tones you can get from this thing are second to none.It has bass & Presence trimpots inside of the pedal which really do make a diff. when you tweak them.Pull the tone knob for a thicker sweeter fuller tone that sustains for days.Dont sweat the soldering, this thing is built to last! I highly reccomend you check one out.On stage is where this really shines!

There are so many factors that can affect the sound... but try a Shure 57 (or something like it) at a sweet spot directly in front of one of the speakers then put a decent condenser mic 3-6 feet in front of the amp and pan those two signals hard left & right. That creates a cool ambient room effect.

Thanks for quick response. I'm currently trying to get a decent recording-sound of my amp (DRRI with Alnico Blue) but I can't get a nice tone out of it. I'm also running a Direct Drive infront of it, but mine doesn't sounds as sweet and warm as yours...I've tried different mic positions, no help. I sounds harsch when I listen to the recording with headphones, but when I play and listen to the amp itself "live" it sounds much better...richer, sweeter and warmer. What am I doing wrong? :( /dnaq

It was the speaker, yeah? Alnico Blue is maybe not the best fit for a DRRI if you are using pedals.
