I sang with VM over 40 years ago. Same attitude and directors. Nothing else is the same. Every time I hear them I tell Jim Clancy that I do not think they can get better, but naturally they do.

BOOM!! I dont have the words to express how fun and beautiful and well done that was. Music - obviously on point. Choreography - WOW! I get why they won.

This is one of the most exciting and talented vocal groups on the planet. Several years ago I had the privilege of filming one of their informal studio sessions in Dallas; that experience remains a 45-year career standout for me. Their sound is unmistakable and their precision unbelievable. Hats off to the Jim and Greg Clancy for mastering the achievements of VM, and to all of the Vocal Majority guys for the unstinting work they put into performances that continue to rock audiences wherever they appear.

Outstanding performance! As a singer in Male Voice Choirs and also chorale societies I really love this. The enthusiasm, the happiness is so evident and there are young men joining in. Please inspire your children, your nephews or any one who can sing to join MVCs we need you and seeing this should inspire. (it has certainly inspired me!)

Marcus, Congrats! I never thought I would see a Bboy doing a pilot freeze in choreo. I’d love to see a head slide or a floating gremlin next year! 😎😁

The crescendo slide 2:29-2:40 wows me - such an achievement to get 153 men in sync and nail it flawlessly. Such discipline and skill - bravo, gentlemen! You set the bar in the stars, AND soundly beat Westminster by 42 total points - (42 being the answer to life, the universe, and everything...of course)

...That is blatantly false. You can literally look up the scores from this contest and previous contests and see what the choruses scored.

Maybe you had to be there, but for me it's too busy in video. I was distracted by all that flit and flutter on the screen. It made it very hard to concentrate and enjoy their quality singing.
@joshualeath77456 жыл бұрын
Wait till they post the ballad...it’s gorgeous.
@music4lity1996 жыл бұрын
It's not one of those things that you had to be there for. A part of their score is based on performance. All of that flit and flutter contributed to them winning International gold.
@Funcitystuff6 жыл бұрын
That's part of competing. Their regularly scheduled performances have a little of that, but this choreo is specific to coming out on top in barbershop.
@chrisjohnson49856 жыл бұрын
Yep.
@hawkeyerichardson50266 жыл бұрын
I, too, feel that the 'Harmony' Society places too much emphasis on 'entertaining' versus producing the purest sound possible. Not only does the stomping and flitting about distract from the sound, there is no way you can sing your best while performing all that choreography. Quartets don't dance around, so how can they score so high for performance? There should be two different categories for choruses -- (1) entertaining and (2) pure sound. You should be able to do an up tune without having to becoming a dance group.
@JeffinBville6 жыл бұрын
Way too much choreography.
@music4lity1996 жыл бұрын
JeffinBville That's not what a whole panel of judges who gave them International Champion thought.
@JeffinBville6 жыл бұрын
That's fine for them. We all have our likes and dislikes and preferences.
@joshualeath77456 жыл бұрын
And yet they still sound phenomenal. That’s what it takes to win gold.
@ruaidhri7776 жыл бұрын
There is the danger that all choruses who want to be in with a chance to win must do multiple somersaults a minute and generally prance around for no good (or even textual) reason. I honestly think most barbershop choreography these days is well executed but a bit cringe worthy and at best unnecessary.
@JeffinBville6 жыл бұрын
And all that movement does nothing but detract from the music.
@kurooschurros6 жыл бұрын
I surely have seen better from them.
@chrisjohnson49856 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have. Unfortunately, this is what barbershop is these days.
