When you look at the cover of the Barbie Princess Charm School DVD you see the confusion & last minute changes that must've taken place not long before the DVD's release. It isn't Blair, Hadley & Isla on the cover, it's Blair, Hadley & Delancy! I'm thinking they originally planned for Delancy to be the 3rd BFF & someone else to be the peer arch foe who reformed at the end. Also when you look at both Delancy & Isla's celebration ball gowns at the end of the movie they're almost completely identical, just with different colors & Isla's gown has some shoulder straps added on one side. It feels like Isla was a character who was created at the very last minute when the movie's creators changed their minds about what they wanted to do with Delancy & realized that Blair would need another BFF to take Delancy's place so had to throw a new character together very quickly. It also explains why there was no doll for Isla in the toy line. There was just no time to make one for her. She was essentially an expy of their original BFF concept for Delancy & it was too late to pull or change the Delancy doll & make one for Isla in Delancy's place or alongside Delancy.

It was much more detailed than what I just described, and they didnt have enough time so they changed their roles. Even in the synopsis on some dvd's delancy was supposed to be her friend c:

well there has been several prominent asian friends. in the 80s there was Dana Yeosan from the Rockers line, then there were Kira Nguyen and Miko Kalani (who was Hawaiian). Kira was continued into the early 2000s but eventually replaced by Lea Bing. Interestinly none of them appeared as movie actresses even though Teresa and Nikki did. But we now currently have Renee Honda so... And there was Courtney Tsubasa from Barbie Diaries, the first Asian movie character to be released as a doll

For me, a character that I feel had a great design was Lydia from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. Her design was so gothic and unique compared to every other character's and I always found her to be very pretty for some reason. And maroon is a very unique color on a Barbie movie character. I’ve been thinking about this for sometime and I noticed that there’s other Barbie things that aren’t toys, like the books. And some of the Barbie accessories and clothes that they’ve made for children and adults. But watching this video it just reminds me of how badly I want to customize dolls and how I need to keep reminding myself to save money to buy all of the tools to do so. A similar but also different topic, I found it interesting that some of the characters’ dolls actually seem to have tanner/darker skin than they do in the movies. I missed out on a lot of the movies as a kid and just had the dolls, and finally watching Princess and the Pauper for the first time, I was kind of surprised that Erika was white because of what my doll of her looked like. Similarly, the doll I had of Ro from Island Princess looked like she had a sort of suntan, which makes more sense to me since she was living on a sunny island for an unspecified amount of time and probably wouldn’t be super pale.

i have a few dolls i dont really collect but my sister does and most of my dolls are now hers i did have a ballet doll it looked like the one in barbie and the pink shoes but im not sure because the leotard is paint on and i have a pink skirt to go with it and before covid i often went to markets and saw a bunch of dolls which were not oringinal barbie dolls some were custom or they were the cheap plastic dolls but i did see alot of barbie sets that i did not know existed which i cant even find online one was a julian doll but it wasent in pacakging but i think it may of been from another country since i live in australia i could tell it was a julian doll even though he wasent wearing his original outfit but he still was waering something from a prince set or a wedding set and i often see stuff like this at markets thank you for reading

Hello, all. One of the biggest issues with dolls and media, is that most dolls are created before the films are even written. Sure, Mattel/MGA and other doll companies have the basic idea, e.g - the princess and the pauper, knowing that thane will have to create a regal doll and a poorer doll. Characters, such as Isla from The charm school, were only made characters after the doll line was created. Obviously, the films are typically sen to retailers and then the film is then released. Isla was my favorite character! I'm not in the Barbie Fandom now as much as I was when I was younger. My favorite movies that I still watch to this day are Princess charm school and A fashion fairytale. Who knows... I might get absorbed back into the Fandom later on (I'm a very late bloomer when it comes to this stuff. I just entered my FNAF phase about a month ago.) TBH I had a huge crush on Isla growing up. And now that I look at her design, especially in her dress!? *chef kiss* 👌 she is so pretty! Kinda reminds me of Jirou from MHA
