If this gets turned into a stage musical, this scene better be choreographed move-for-move.
@catherinesanchez11858 ай бұрын
Are you kidding ? There's NO WAY this does not become a musical! LOL! All those families who went to see Frozen on broadway? Mattel is eyeing those numbers baby! I wouldnt' be surprised if some dance clubs out there don't play this on their screens for the dancers on the floor to dance along too as well. Line dancing seems to come back every decade or so..maybe...it's time again. (not talking about country line dancing, that never went away)

@@catherinesanchez1185haha exactly. I’m sure it’s already being casted, choreographed, etc now. Barbie 2 already got go ahead. Not sure what their doing with Ken in that, but gosling stole the show in this.

@@Seryma86 Barbie 2 hasn’t been confirmed - but it likely won’t happen, despite demand for a sequel. Barbie 2 doesn’t have a release date, as *it’s not even in development right now.* No one has any contractual obligation to a sequel. Margot Robbie has been involved in discussions about a follow-up, explaining to _Time Magazine_ that a sequel “could go a million different directions from this point. But I think you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels.” A potential Barbie sequel began looking less likely after recent comments from Gerwig, who told _The New York Times_ : “I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.” Robbie also echoed Gerwig’s sentiments, saying: “I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something.” Ryan Gosling also joined in on the discussion, stating to _Variety_ “Oh, I’m not going anywhere near that. We really know nothing.” “We have no information,” America Ferrera added as well. “I will say, what Greta and Margot have said is they did not set out to make a franchise. They put it all out on the table. Every bit of it that they loved and that they knew to do, they did. Which is refreshing, right? We’re not setting it up for 20 years of ‘Barbie’ movies.

I think for women, this scene is so hypnotic because it represents what most of us want. A fun, innocent night. Everyone dresses up and does their hair and makeup. No one is criticized for their body. There's room for everyone to exist. No one is in competition. There is no sex, drugs, or alcohol. Everyone's in a good mood. Everything's sparkling. The music is on point. It's like the ultimate dance/slumber party we all dreamed of having (and probably never got to). Instead of this, we had parents who told us to be quiet and have the lights out by nine. We had older brothers and dads who made comments about our bodies so we didn't want to dress up. We had that one girl who told us our eyeshadow didn't match and that our hair was frizzy... Barbie never made us feel like crap. Humans did.

Simu Liu did a good job as his Ken. I don’t know why Twitter is trying so hard to make people believe that he was bad in this.

personally my problem with it is that he's just not very hot as opposed to literally every barbie and other ken in this scene

Respectfully disagree. The "I'm Just Ken" scene is the best dance scene in movie history. This is second best!

I'm obsessed with Margot Robbie's expressions at 3:14... The back & forth between the choreographed blissful grin from before and a "What just happened?" dreadful grimace is just incredible. Phenomenal acting.

One of the best scenes of the film. They nailed the production and Vibe of Barbieland.

the dance choreography in the film is incredible. i really think the oscars should add categories for casting, stunt work/choreography, and for dance choreography. these people deserve their flowers. plus, that big woman can move. seriously. i'd like to dance with her. i saw this in theaters and i really enjoyed the film. it was one of the best film experiences i've been to. the screening i went was filled with largely women with a lot of them wearing pink as i was one of the few guys there but i was wearing a black sabbath t-shirt just to freak people out. yet, at the end. i was called "heavy metal ken" which i'd take as a compliment.

The Casting Society was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 as a professional society of about 1,200 casting directors and associate casting directors for film, television, theatre, and commercials in Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, and the United States. Since October 1985, the Casting Society has presented the *Artios Awards* for excellence in casting. Members are honored in over 25 different casting categories in film, television, and theater in simultaneous events held in Beverly Hills, New York City and London. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences once had an Academy Award for Best Dance Direction from 1935 to 1937. It was discontinued as the Directors Guild of America took offense to the use of the term "direction," which they believed should be reserved for the overall guidance of the film. The World Choreography Awards in film, television, and commercials has been held since 2015.
