I'm from Holland and the Dutch doll is so cute and it's perfectly detailed as the traditional clothing, also with the clocks... how cute! There is an open air museum and that's a museum what is made like a whole old traditional Dutch village where still some people live there in traditional clothes and the old ways! You can also dress yourself there as an child in traditional clothes from that days! It's really cute if you see some kids walking around with old toys, that clothes, and some old candy in there hands! Maybe some Dutch here will know the name of it: het zuiderzee museum toch jongens?

I actually love the "Dolls of the World" line. I don't see how they're offensive in any way, they're just using the best of their knowledge of the country to make a doll based off of it. I'd play with these, and I'd use them with my so-called American Barbies. I wanted one so much that I made one of my dolls British! I need to find the right dolls to be other cultures, of course. Anyway, since these are plastic, does it matter? You know you're not a doll, right? This isn't racism, it's culture.

I was just watching another video, "Mexico Barbie: stereotype or stylish?" I will be posting my comments there as well, but happened to catch THIS video due to automatic button being on. What Linda Kyaw says here makes complete sense to ME! WHAT is the argument on the other video about anyway - the pet or the Barbie figure? I mean, we've had Barbie for EVER! We all KNOW her figure is unrealistic and even unhealthy for a real human being. Surely NO OTHER toys on the market are unrealistic and/or unhealthy for humans to mimic! Seriously? I just want to slap people who INSIST on making EVERYthing something to argue about! These dolls are beautiful, and honestly, if there was NOTHING more about them THAN their beauty, SO WHAT?!!! This does NOT = all BAD. Are we not capable of teaching our children what is and is not realistic? It seems I've heard the same argument for video games and horror films and explicit lyrics in music, etc. One person felt the Chihuahua dog was a poor choice for a Mexico Barbie. What would you prefer, an Alaskan Husky? I mean, if they made a 50 States Collection, it would work for that state! Speaking of which, Chihuahua IS a STATE ...in Mexico! It's a Spanish word for that matter - so what is the big deal!?! If a child were to seriously ask you, "Does everyone in Mexico have a Chihuahua Mommy?" ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY is, "No, Honey. But..........." and there you go - TEACHING TIME! argh The designer chose what she felt was a traditionally prominent symbol to represent each country's rich cultural ….. SHAME on her! smh She even indicated the dolls were glamorous interpretations, but Incorporating animals into the Barbie "package" would, along with the passports and sticker sheet, offer further teaching opportunities. I apologize for probably "preaching to the proverbial choir". I just cannot IMAGINE anyone throwing a fit over a USA Barbie accessorized in like manner! Personally, I think the whole idea expands the play value of this typically predictable product and, again, as Linda mentioned, inspires others as well. I'M inspired! :) ref: Linda Kyaw, Barbie designer - Dolls of the World Collection

I swear, people are always looking for offenses against them and this comment section is a perfect example. #1: These are TOYS #2. The designers of these dolls dressed them according to *their own* artistic representation of traditional costumes of various countries. #3: Barbie must look like *Barbie* or kids( and adults) do not want to buy her. #4: Many, many countries are represented including the US, Canada, and Mexico aka the *American* Dolls. #5: These dolls represent *countries* - not entire continents, *with the exception of Australia which is a continent and a country* all at once. I'm on a one woman mission to teach the world the difference between a continent and a country. I hope that went into some memory banks or my work is in vain.

I'm not happy with how they have portrayed Australia as white since that doll should've been an aboriginal doll to represent Australia
@tamyaweaver12325 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is very true, aboriginal Australian people were much darker than many black people

A pot 🏺 in the hands of Indian doll would have been more relevant; the Indian women, especially in rural areas use it to get the water from lakes. Monkey is hilarious touch; however, you don't see women there with a monkey 🐒 hanging on their body. 😢😂 Having said that, i did like the use of Indian Sari colour, and her long hair.
