When Barbie mentions about Buzz Lightyear toys shortage in Toy Story 2: "Back in 1995, Short-sighted Retailers did not order enough dolls to meet demand." it's actually a solid, true fact, and I didn't even realize it. Major toy manufacturers like Mattel and Hasbro declined to produce the toys because they doubted the movie would become a big hit, especially with the other two upcoming Disney movies, such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the live-action 101 Dalmatians. Disney was able to secure around 60,000 toys from Thinkway. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep up with the huge demand, resulting in a scarcity and causing people to buy them on the black market at a much higher price.

Edit : Those blue belt buzz lightyears sealed go for $1k+ in the " black market " 😂 I'm glad I was able to purchase one for $220 everything works perfectly too.
