By the way... I know, I know... I didn't need a smoke machine to find this leak. I've actually known about this leak for a few years now. It's a demonstration video folks. Hope it helps!

I laughed out loud at work when you showed the hole... I get it was for demonstration purposes but it was funny as hell.

Yes, very funny but by accident. I should have presented it a little differently. But there it is. lol

I'm about to buy this right now...does it come with the adapter to fit a nice tight fit to the exhaust?

They have what you need. Website is easy to navigate through to find what you need.

I used a shop vac w soapy water. I saw bubbles from the front cat in my 2.4 2001 taco. That means the cat is toast right?

I just bought this to try and pinpoint a tiny exhaust leak that I found with the shopvac+soapy water method and i was surised to see that the smoke was not visible out of these pinhole/hairline cracks...i guess this is better for detecting leaks that are not hairline/pinhole
@howabout213810 ай бұрын
For super tiny cracks you need more pressure, for big you need a lot of smoke

I have 2010gmc sierra 5.3 want to buy a smoke machine. Where would I attach it to engine to check evap leaks

Silly question but I have a smoke machine used for a party a few years back. I'm not a mechanic and I'm trying to find a leak in my exhaust. Would this be useful? Will using a water based smoke fkuid it damage the engine?
@TravMan9238 ай бұрын
I would imagine that would work fine!

I need to diagnose a leak with my catted headers around that exhaust manifold and where it meets the midpipe. Is that stuff safe for a catalytic converter?
@BarboursAutoHelp5 ай бұрын
The stuff sold by AutoLine Pro is. The stuff most machines use is.
@macknumber911 ай бұрын
How do you repair a catalytic converter leak? Do you need to take to muffler shop and have heat shield cut off and then rewelded back together after the leak is repaired?
@BarboursAutoHelp11 ай бұрын
Probably just replace it.
@macknumber911 ай бұрын
@BarboursAutoHelp wouldn't it be much more cost effective to just have the heat shield cut off...leak repaired and then heat shield welded back? Can't be that labor extensive
@BarboursAutoHelp11 ай бұрын
@macknumber9 the trick is doing it without damaging the catalyst.

I am wondering, willl the smoke go through the cat to show a leak in front of it?
@BarboursAutoHelp18 күн бұрын
Yes. If the cats are not hot they don’t work.
@antoniogonzales30302 ай бұрын
Is there a chance the smoke might damage or affect some of the sensors?
@BarboursAutoHelp2 ай бұрын
I've never had an issue and it's recommended by manufacturers to use a smoke machine to diagnose lean codes. So, I doubt it.
