So sad to listen to Sinatra at this stage in his life the once lyric baritone voice has gone, partly due to age but also as a result of smoking and alcohol.Streisand younger in great voice but listen to her at singing live at 76 and her vocal decline minimal by comparison with Sinatra at the same age.I like Streisand but not a huge fan.I am a huge Sinatra fan and in the 40's, 50's up to mid 60's he was in a class of his own.

2 LEGENDS STREISAND & SINATRA !!!
@Price704 жыл бұрын
Sinatra was 76 years old here in 1992 and hadn't recorded an album since 1984. Striesand is still very much at a peak here being only 50 years old. Frank's prime was during the 1950s and early 60s. There was no way to really get these two together in their absolute peaks because Barbra got big around 1963.
@michaelklein5242 Жыл бұрын
Sinatra was extremely reluctant to go into this project and so much of recording technology had changed from the time he recorded his last album. They really had to cajole him into this, but once he stood before the mic and sung his first few notes, Sinatra, despite his age, sounded better than he had for quite some time. He still possessed that remarkable phrasing.

The best male and female pop singers of the 20th Century. It almost didn't happen even though Streisand was the first singer they approached. The "Duets" album outsold every album Frank Sinatra ever recorded.

A duet between Sinatra way past his prime and Streisand in her prime a big mistake, Frank sounds like a tired old man which he was and his voice had not aged well, due to his life style, listen to Mathis at the same age and he still sounds great.I.am.a huge Sinatra fan in the 1950/65 period he was.simply the best singer of The Great American songbook.

The engineer Pete Doell later said Frank flatly refused to sing "my Barbra" at 2:45, so they took a tape of him saying her name and stretched it out and inserted it as if he sung the word.

This wasn't a good idea. Frank was way past his prime and sounds weak next to Barbra at her best. I wish I could have heard them sing this duet when both were at their best. Frank would have wiped the floor with her 25 years earlier

I disagree. Her instrument was/is far superior. Interpretive skills …it’s a toss up.
