The problem I have is that Ozempic isn’t a weight loss drug. It was designed for Type 2 diabetics to curb hunger and help insulin production. Now there are shortages for those that truly need it.

It is also a weight loss drug. Many drugs are prescribed for different reasons.

There are several semaglutide drugs approved for weight loss. These drugs have many different names, but to the average person or celebrity, people tend to refer to them all as Ozempic. Yes there is a shortages. But ozempic has only been approved by the FDA since 2017, and its not like diabetics were unable to manage their disease prior to 2017....

LOL, I am on Ozempic for my diabetes, and recently I went to see my OBGYN and she jokingly asked me if I was on "one of those drugs" because I had lost weight. I laughingly said I was but for the right reasons. So my doc complimented me on the weight. So, yeah, I guess, my weight loss is that obvious (but funny, I don't feel I have lost a lot).

There is actually quite a lot of data on this, as well as data showing mentioning someones weight or fat shaming them in anyway causes them to gain more weight and fail at diets. So it basically boils down, people should mind their own business and focus on their own bodies.

Don't ask about weight loss, don't ask if a woman is pregnant and I don't ask people about their spouse/partner, etc if I haven't seen them in a bit. You never know who just got divorced or is going through a breakup. I just let people tell me what they want me to know then I comment appropriately.

My problem with this meditation is that it’s not available for middle class people. My son was on this medication free for a few months - sample from the doctor . He lost 30 pounds and has managed to keep it off. He said so this is what it is like to not be hungry all the time. To eat and feel full. To not have your brain sabotage you. It’s 3k a month because it used to be 2k a month.

Just look how so many of them are quickly melting away before our eyes & wearing the most form fitting designer clothes (including the men) & saying diet & exercise. It's coming off as all vanity. Imagine the rich at the forefront of the fight to make the drug available to all in need. Thr most surprising has been Oprah. She lied & said it was cheating to use it. I think to rehab her image she may begin to publicly fight to make it more available to the non wealthy.

It *IS* rude because it's a comment on your perception of somebody's body/weight and in 2024 we should know better. Not everyone thinks being larger is something that needs to be changed or fixed, so if you ask a larger person if they've been using a weight loss aid, you are in essence asking them if they've lost weight; when you couple that with a complement, the overall suggestion is that you think they look thinner and therefore better. HOWEVER, they are literally personal friends, so clearly Babs feels comfortable commenting on the weight of HER FRIEND. She just forgot that the whole world would see it. Melissa is fine with it, per her response, so the entire thing is a non-issue... ...EXCEPT in the bigger picture, which is that GENERALLY SPEAKING, particularly to someone you do not KNOW, such a comment would absolutely be EXTREMELY Rude.

They want to give an impression that their discipline, right decisions & will power accomplished it. That way those not in the know can feel incompetent & they can feel superior. I'm a Barbra fan & dont fully believe she stated it publicly by accident. I imagine her talking to her husband or assistant saying "oh my gosh, look at all of these people melting away. It has to be those drugs & im not doing them. I'll keep my extra pounds or start hiking." The reason is its just starting to look & sound comical when all of these celebs are quickly melting away, putting on form fitting clothes & saying either nothing or simply diet & exercise. I read her book & she has no shame or filter & would say just be honest.

I think its an okay question to ask, but I also understand that its too personal of question for some because weight can be a sensitive topic. If people are getting healthier and living better quality lives than why not normalize this convo so others who maybe want it but are too embarrassed to ask wont feel that way anymore. PS I always thought this was some "new drug" relative to when it became the newest weight loss treatment so Joy completely unlocked a memory for me when she sang the ozempic theme song 🤣

@audreycampbell9483 I'm genuinely curious. You said what you would do verses what they originally did. In the back of my mind I also think about how Star Jones didn't want to share about her weight loss surgery. I personally didn't think she needed to however, the view staff got so much hate mail towards her for that along with resenting how she was planning out her wedding. Apparently alot of fans of these type of shows & also people who relate to & or support someone bc they are overweight or obese feel they have a right to your journey. No one does, but if you've been choosing to apparently share all along & then discovered in a cover up or lie, it's hard for those same fans to continue to relate. And what does that mean for shows like this? "Loss in ratings" or support. Ultimately for some that's the bottom line. In my view they have a right to say it or not. They also have the right to whatever feedback as they daily give feedback on others.
