A rare gem from Streisand and Legrand from the Je M appelle Barbra sessions and a video homage to all the great photographers that captured Barbra the first decade of her career, Avedon, Beaton, Schiller and others.

I felt everything she recorded for the French album, both the American LP and the European EP, was outstanding. I had the privilege of talking with her when she appeared in concert at Soldier Field in Chicago and she said she had just finished a grueling recording session in New York CIty trying to get one song right. She also said she was being encouraged to record more English language tracks to make the album more commercial, one reason she was so pleased with the four-song French EP which preceded the American release because it was really French. What struck me about her was she was so serene, not show bizzy at all, no elements of a great star. As I have written countless times, she was and I believe is more accurately the daughter of a scholar who was also a teacher, and that facet of her identity is what immediately struck me. Also, she was quiet and very kind to the fans who waited after the concert chanting her name hoping against hope to meet her. Which they got do do; she apologized for them having to wait, explaining she was going to have a baby and had asked Fred Glaser, the famous stylist, to give her a shorter hairstyle for summer in New York CIty. She also, by the way, is petite, and also also, by the way, is gorgeous. My thought at the moment was how proud her father would be of her, and I believe he already was and will forever be.

Imagine this going lost. Sure wasn't the heck on MY copy of "Je m'Appelle B." which I bought in 1973. Imagine the lack of quality today, and this going lost for so long. Hoo, boy. -- Shakin' head, - VCH & M.T.C., Newark

Can you imagine this emanating from a 24 year-old singer of today? Extraordinary. Miss Streisand doubtless is 'an old soul'...

@themichael/ Stunning. Naturally. Thank you for this. You probably know that during the early period of Barbra's recordings, in the era of the 45rpms, many well known as well as lesser known tracks had a fresh interpretation. Although I long ago lost my collection, many of these remain indelibly etched into my mind. In fact, I always felt like these versions were actually superior to those released on the albums. I remember exquisitely beautiful vocals and orchestrations on songs such as Why Did I Choose You? People. Where Am I Going? My Coloring Book. And many others. Look reminds me of these others.

Wow! What a great story by Wayne Brazier below who met and talked with Barbra about her French recordings. BTW, this is a lovely song and the images were divinely artistic. They remind me of the time when Barbra wasn't afraid to stretch her fashion sensibilities to a sublime level.

I sure would like to know how this sound track, that was part of recording sessions not released, came to be posted on KZbin. This is a special recording sung perfectly. It should be selected for more unreleased songs for the next Streisand Album. In November 2022, Live at the Bon Soir, is being released. I have a bootleg copy of that performance. I bought it on Amazon and seems it was not illegally released. At least I never heard that any legal action from the Streisand team came of it. It was not a big seller and I don't think it is available now. It you are aware of how this, Michel LeGrand song was put on KZbin, please let me know.
