The blue is methylene blue. It's oftentimes used to transport fish and also can be used to treat fish that are sick

The reason the water is blue is because of the mineral powder being colored so as it is filtered out of the water it gets lighter. It's done so you know you need to add more so the fish don't die (bait shop don't feed the fish) but if a pet store has the blue water that idk why they would because they feed the fish they have

I am doing a social marketing project at school on why beach goers should not littler and to clean up and what it does to the marine life and the beach if they continue to litter. I love aquariums and fish I fish all the time and I have four fish tanks! the water is always blue with shiners because most places use a product called "finer shiner" which is essentially water conditioner that makes them live longer and has a blue dye in it.
