Alba was expertly blocked by Trent Alexander-Arnold, but without Semedo, Barça couldn't replicate that Alba-like attack on the right flank. Barça were flat tonight, and they lacked creativity. They also lacked defensive solidity and concentration. It seems that Barça under Valverde are far more reliant on Messi's otherworldly brilliance (which Klopp expertly limited tonight), and they tend to underestimate their opponents greatly. Messi was determined to bring the big ears to Camp Nou, and he's been by far the best player in the UEFA Champions League this season, but even he can't do it all by himself.
