El Poble Sec. It's an awesome neighbourhood just outside the hustle and bustle of the centre of barcelona. You can walk to Las Ramblas in 20 minutes and it's incredibly well connected with public transport to all the major sight seeing spots. There's lots of families around because it's mainly locals rather than tourists. Lots of little playgrounds and all the cafes and family friendly bars you could need.
