R.I.P Mel & Woolly. Great, great band. Saw them on the tour to promote Time Honoured Ghosts in Norwich while I was at Norwich City College. Such a great shame that John and Les felt they could no longer work together a true waste of a talented band and sound.

Amazing band live. One of the great bands of the 70's. Anybody that followed BJH in the early days will testify that every gig was so exciting and always sold out. Great memories.

I never had the pleasure to see my favourite band perform back then . I was thrilled to see John in Edinburgh a few years ago, I will never forget the amazing night ❤❤❤

Yes John , as a stage lighting technician in late 70’s I worked with BJH on a few UK & Europe tours and the free Berlin show in front of the Wall. They were hugely popular on the continent and as you say, selling out shows . Have to credit their then creative lighting designer and operator Ian Buxton .

For me BJH are the Beatles of the 70s. As a band, as songwiters. Yet with their own sound, all these wonderful choir parts and the great orchestral harmonies. BJH are way way underrated and it's a shame that they're almost completely unknown in the US.

You have caught it exactly. So many elements coming together to create that unique sound. I would hate to have missed out on all those gems and I feel sorry for those who have.

I am an American who 1st heard them on radio Luxenberg many years ago and fell in love with their music and I have everything they did. I turned my friends on to their music and its sad but I think their music is up there with the greats and its 2 bad they only sold 10 million albums.
@b-music93292 жыл бұрын
@@thomasanders5823 Yes - they never made it to the US and also were kind of ignored in their home country GB - they mainly had big success in Germany and Switzerland (their only number one they had in Switzerland which was "Victims Of Circumstance"). I'm Swiss so that's probably the reason I know them.
@PeterSpaeter96 Жыл бұрын
@@b-music9329 ... even though I personally (having been a long time aficionado) consider 'Victims of Circumstance' quite an awful song (and I also don't like the whole eponymous album, with the exception of perhaps two or three tracks).

@@b-music9329 British DJ Alan "Fluff" Freeman was a big fan and played them a lot on his fondly-remembered Saturday Show on BBC Radio One in the mid-seventies. That's where I first heard this and it remains my favourite BJH song.

I went to Art School with "Wooly", there were four of us (not connected with BJH) - inseparable as a fun-seeking quad of mischief-makers.. I dated his beautiful sister (miss u Maggie) for a while too! Miss my school days and teenage Years when I hear his music!

La passione dell'amore è chiara per chi non la conosce, non certo per chi l'ha già provata. Che voi non abbiate a capire, provando direttamente, come degli sprovveduti. (The passion of love is clear for those who do not know, not for those who have already proven. That you do not have to understand, trying directly, as the unwary).

Well, when your gigs only lasted 40 minutes, your longevity should be assured.....loved this band so much in the early 70's. Then , it was knocked into a cocked at the old Glasgow Apollo....they were bubbling quite nicely. Then that was that. Off they went. Can't recall if they returned for an encore. Maybe the place wasn't full enough. Little Feat 40 years on, do a 2 1/2 hrs stint. BJH got no more purchases from me
