A 36-YEAR-OLD woman loves Barbie so much she has spent $80,000 to turn her apartment into a Barbie shrine. In a pink, pink kitchen, in a pink, pink apartment, a pink, pink Barbie superfan cooks some pink, pink eggs. Azusa Sakamoto doesn’t just like Barbie, she LOVES her. The 36-year-old has dedicated her adult life to building up a Barbie collection worth an estimated $80,000. Every inch of Azusa’s West Hollywood apartment is crammed full of Barbies and related memorabilia. Azusa, who works as a nail artist, even customises her furniture so that everything from her fridge and kettle in the kitchen, through to the loo in her bathroom, have all been Barbie-fied.

She really is adorable and sweet, and I like the fact that while she has immersed herself in all things Barbie, she doesn't aspire to look like the doll. No painful/expensive plastic surgeries- just a deep contentment with her life. I am a little concerned that her neighborhood was disclosed; she has so many valuable dolls and other collectibles there.

jj andtt, certain colors are best in moderation. I am crazy about red clothing, and my white kitchen has red trim and storage containers and bowls. I LOVE red; it's so vibrant and it makes me happy. Yet I don't think I could relax in a red bedroom or bath; I believe there's some truth to the theories about 'relaxing' colors like blue and green and pastel pink. Gold is gorgeous, though, and a unique choice for decor.
