When I was 11-12, my great aunt went into a home and I ended up with her AM radio that was the size of a small shoebox, so it probably had tubes. I had terrible insomnia, but I wasn't allowed to stay up. So, I would get up out of bed in the dark and turn (it had dials) it on so softly that I had to keep my ear to it to hear it. We lived just outside Los Angeles and I would listen to KHJ radio (id jingle: 🎶 Ninth Street KHJ!🎶) with the top 10 of the late sixties in my ear. There were a few close calls, but my parents suspected reading. They never caught me with a book, flashlight, or the light on, so I was relatively safe.

Ha-ha! We don't all say "can I get"--Some of us do know that it is more proper to say "may I have"---it is mostly dependent on class or education. Also, geographical region plays an important role in how we say things. Some regions say "Gimme dis or gimme dat" (Give me this or that) or "let me have that there..." There are all kinds of dialects in America and some are very hard to understand even to fellow Americans. Tony, your American accent has come along! You now sound like John Wayne's more thoughtful brother. That is a compliment, I think. Greetings from Montana, and keep on rambling!

We were dead of sleep. And (how we know not) all clapp’d under hatches; Where, but even now, with strange and several noises. Of roaring, shrieking, howling, jingling chains, And moe diversity of sounds, all horrible. We were awak’d; straightway at liberty; Where we, in all her trim, freshly beheld. Our royal, good, and gallant ship." It's very creepy and effective! Oh Jasper! My love for you runs deep.

Love this genre of horror story, reminds me of the Maiden song Dance of Death which must mean I enjoyed it.

Don't ever stop the rambles, please. I am fascinated by someone other than myself who can jump from subject to subject with no real thread. Who wants to be "normal?" I used to keep my transistor radio under my pillow every night. 💜

I used to fall alseep to mono radio....always waited to hear a favourite song...before I'd switch it off...The Korgis...Kate Bush...etc...

Most Horror fans I bet have an insatiable appetite for the Moors quick plug for " My Brothers Keeper" by Tim Powers

I'm an American who has spent a good amount of time in Britain and I've 'gotten' my share of Quavers and Whatzits. And I too was a little confused by the description of the stone circle. They most certainly didn't all have half-moon altars and such, although you will find the recumbent and flanker altars in Scotland. He almost got it right by getting it wrong.

I do eat Quavers but they are deeply unsatisfying after the event

I also realized (American spelling) that our American friend also seems confused about the moon. A half moon with horns? Surely he means a crescent moon. It's still a fun story. I do like my henges, dolmens, and tumuli.

Your other comment shows up for me - right above this one ☝️ I think sometimes the comments are flagged when they have certain words and the AI reviews them to be sure it’s not misinformation or whatever and then if it goes through the review, it posts automatically after that. I’ve noticed it happens with certain comments I’ve posted, too. You’re right - it was probably the mention of the big C 19. I hope you feel better soon!

lol! People just love to moan on about things, don't they---and I mean the 14%, not you and your Ramble. This story was okay, I liked your critique of it and found the "American clues" interesting in your analysis. I was awake the whole time and laughed several times during the blather, my favorite bit. Your book you're writing about the weird house with levels and changing rooms---I have VISITED that house (or its American cousin-house) many times in my dreams!!! It's a freaky place and it must be one of those Universal what-do-ya-callits in the human consciousness/psyche. I'm a very strong Dream Rememberer---since childhood. I always come back from those house dreams feeling like more SPACE has been opened up in my Mind, having paid it one more visit, discovered yet another strange area. My subterraneous dream house once had an entire underground train depot down there, with lots of passengers coming and going, as well as a river near-by! I guess, really---it was a whole city I found, four stories underground. In a dream. See---I like to blather too, must be partly why I'm a Fan. Take care, Tony. 💖🤩

I really enjoy can you talk after the story getting biographical information about the author and when the story was originally published it all related things . sometimes you free associate about related stories and other stories and about writing in general. I enjoy hearing it's quite a bit, it seems a sensible thing to enjoy . But sometimes you continue -- blather on is the phrase you use -- and I usually enjoy listening to that too; the only reason I can think why I enjoy hearing that is there must be something wrong with me .

I tried to find the House of Leeds by Daniel Lay but could get no information. I expect I misunderstood her misspelling the names . Can you spell it for me ? There is a Leed's House which is a weird horror novel but I don't think that is what you're talking about think that is what you're talking about 1:04:14

I’ve totally hated adverts since I was a kid and because of that I get KZbin Premium, you get access to a better range of music too. The bad side is that I have little money left for Patreon or coffees. Do you get anything at all from Premium subscribers? Anyway my gratitude and appreciation are profound!💚

I’m confused. The cover picture looks like those many nights I drove south west across Arizona or New Mexico toward Southern California or Northern Mexico, but certainly not any Moors I’ve ever seen. I’m just st saying.
