Lol you guys are thinking too hard about it. Freezes attack made a small rip in time and space which allowed bar dock to escape into the past so he’s fighting freezes ancestor but in doing so he creates the legend of the super saiyan by becoming who some would think is the first one ever

I didn't remember if it canon or not but i don't think should be canon,becouse If frieza shattered the reality and the bardock of the main dragon ball timeline(the one of the anime)go back in time mean that is in another timeline(a timeline that is not the one of the anime),so he could have create the legend in this different timeline but not in the real one of the anime that we watch,so i don't know i look at this just as a plus episode that mean nothing for the main dragon ball timeline but at least is enjoyable to watch

This non canon what if was never officially dubbed. Honestly I wish they would have just put "What If" in the title and stopped confusing people with something SO non canon and out of left field. I feel the same about this special as I do about GT, just says and does whatever it wants with no regard for what it means to the characters, so clearly I'm not a fan. lol. Over glorifying Bardock and claiming he's the first Super Saiyan is so silly, like SOMEHOW it was the main characters dad? Really? Not to mention the time travel made no sense.

While i don't agree with everything they said, it's true, it's not canon and should be stated as much. Doesn't mean it isn't cool in parts. But is non canon
