Great A/B demo! I personally prefer the Aftermath because it has more focused mids, tighter sound, to my ears. I already own an Aftermath set and it can do anything from blues to extreme metal so far. BTW I'd love to try the Warpig in my future guitar too. Oh and regarding cell phone VDO shooting, I like it. I like the way you demo. Plain cell phone recording eliminates those sophisticated post-production mixing that people always 'touch up' the sound to the point they think it sounds good instead of 'showing the fact'. That's why these days guitar demos sound pretty much the same. Keep up your good work!

Aftermath has something nice going on in the mids. Not as icepick as the Warpig.

@tteezzrreell either will work. Just be sure to get the Alnico 5 magnet version. Ceramic magnet don't do well in basswood.

Great comparison, the Warpig seemed to be a little more full to my ears while the aftermath had a nice rounded midrange. If the warpig can get that round bright midrange then it wins for me.

Wish you had a microphone placed next to your amp. Well it's unfortunate. However I must say, your tone was fucking brutal without a microphone. I could hear the clarity. Clean playing you had. Fucking amazing man. Bareknuckle should make active pickups someday. Very versatile pickups they make. I liked the warpig and aftermath equally.

... Asking for active Bare Knuckles is like asking for ketchup on your steak. The very thing that makes BKP's amazing is their dynamics, and making active ones would seriously ruin everything good about them.

witkac87 Was that a reply to me? I am aware that some of the advantages of active pickups are smoothness, sustain, less noise, less signal loss and a more even spectrum. These are far from always desireable, especially from people that know how to achieve the majority of things without squashing their tone. Actives are over compressed in my ears, which not only makes it sound weird in itself, but also makes your guitar sooooo sterile.

I don't like amp modelers I hate them. Some amps respond better to active pickups more than others. Some amps will make your active pickups sound somewhat passive. It depends on the amp, not on how much gain the amp puts out. I've tried "high gain amps" that don't respond well. It's not about the gain.

Peavey amps do not produce the tone I would like coming out of active pickups. The tone remains passive. Some marshall amps have that same effect. The only amps I feel that respond best to active pickups are the one and only Blackstars. Incredible amps.

How do u find the 500T stock explorer pickup in comparison with the Warpig? i am asking cause i ve installed a miracle man on the explorer but didnt like the sound and changed back to the 500T again

Thanks for the video. Just BTW it is pronounced "Al-NIK-co" not "Al-nee-co". Alnico is named for its components of aluminum, nickle and cobalt. Which one is better for sweeping mids? Is the Warpig hotter than the Dimarzio X2N? Thanks.

I think if you want something along the lines of killswitch engage and trivium, go with the warpigs. If you looking fir simething along the lines of lamp of god, go with the aftermaths. You are winner either way :) I'm just going based off on how you had it set up.

You have to use a specific microphone (sm57 for example) with an audio interface to do this comparison, because we cant hear the difference with the mic of the cam. But it's a good review. it's just an advice.
