Thanks for the awesome videos .. I'll definitely get some wool insoles .. im almost at the year for barefoot and thanks to you for your tips and expertise I'm running comfortably and transitioned to steep hill work now with no calf pain 😍 best decision of my life! I cringe now when i see people running in those platform running shoes (like i used to!! 😱🙈) thanks a bucket load ❤

Ha, they should call them "Cringe" shoes! I feel the same way, watching people clomp along, seemingly in a great deal of pain too. I love wool insoles, I just wish more BF companies would sell them. Wildling does. Anyway, keep rocking those pain-free hill workouts, Gill!

Excellent list, very well-considered. I'm intrigued by the Realfoot Trekker, but unsure as to sizing. I'm trying to decide between sizes that would leave 10 and 17 mm extra space. Normally 10mm is too little for me, but maybe with the extra wide toe box it might work? I'm afraid sizing up will leave my feet swimming!

My feet are 10.5 in and the 11/44 does fit slightly shorter than the same size in other brands, but I think like you said the extra-wide toebox makes that ok, and I don't think I'd like the size up. If your normal size usually fits roomy, then you should be ok.

@AndrewFolts wait, doesn't that equal out to like 23mm extra space? That sounds like a lot! Is that for layering with thick socks? I'm considering the 44 too, but my feet are 11in.

I like the look of the Ruivos, however walking on the straps don't wear them out quickly?

That's what I thought, but so far so good thru the first year. I think because they're outside the area your foot lands that they don't get much pressure/friction. Although I'm sure the embedded rubber plug style is more durable overall.

Great work on this one. It's a well-thought-out guide. I would like to know if the Pantufa has a greater ground feel than the KSO ECO Wool, even though they are 0.5mm thicker. And, are they also better than the 2mm KOW slippers? I have been loving my ECO Wools for running and various things. Today, I took them out for a few miles run over uneven terrain mostly covered in packed snow at 19.4°F, and with some Injinjis, I stayed warm. Thank you, Andrew!

Yea, Mukishoes are a bit softer than Vibram's and so you do get more ground feel. It's probably a tie with the KOW's, because they're even softer, but slightly more padded with the wool/leather. The KOW's feel slightly more natural in terms of how they move, whereas the Pantufa's have a rubber sole, which does "tap" just a tiny bit, although you can take them outside, which is nice. The KSO Wool's are bomb, glad you're getting some great use out of them in cold temps!

I've gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed that many barefoot shoe companies don't sell half sizes - Vivo, Wildling, Feelgrounds. They've got to be missing out on a lot of sales because of that.

It's tough, because carrying half sizes means doubling the number of different templates brands need to maintain and also paying a lot more in manufacturing costs. Stocking becomes harder too, trying to estimate demand for so many sizes. So they may miss sales, but it probably adds up to less money than they'd have to shell out to support half sizes. Does suck for customers, tho. I'm a 10.5 and often have to size up to 11. Works fine, but half sizes would def be nice.

Don’t order Vivo’s if you’re in NZ! They don’t keep stock in the country. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and they still haven’t shipped. They cant even give me an ETA on delivery.

Three weeks?! Jeez, I've never heard of anyone having to wait that long, that's rough. Maybe ask customer service for a discount as compensation, seems fair.
