Hello sailors, great videos, great project ! I built a 36 foot budget sailing catamaran. My naval architect provided a rig plan diagram with all details. I bought a used 65 foot monohull mast for $ 900 USD, a rigger told me where to cut it for a splice. (I had to ship it.) And modify it for a cat. It was easy to do myself. Aluminum cuts easy with jig saw and circular saw with metal blade. I had to angle the spreaders back and rake the mast, and had a welder make the boom longer. I even set mast with crane standing with many ropes, then I measured for stainless rigging wires. I used 2nd hand sails for years, saved big money. Sail on Mates ! 👍

That’s awesome! That sounds kinda like what we are going to do! There is a possibility of finding a catamaran mast too. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!

I you put a litre of Mineral Turps in your fuel when ever you top up as it soaks up moisture and then burns up when going through the carries / injectors meaning less build up of condensation

The workshop area should be very convenient. I would suggest an easily removable guard to protect the escape hatch in case tools or supplies get shifted in heavy seas I noticed Tom Cunliffe mentioned toping up the diesel tank in his laying up for winter video, too. It's nice you had access to the polisher. Keep up the good work!

Ahh that’s a good idea! Didn’t think about the escape hatch! Thank you!!

A work shop area is a GREAT idea, especially if you can store all of your tools in a way that they are easily accessible ! Don't mar up the wall so if you want to convert it back to a shower, you can ! Electricity available in the yard ? Patiently waiting for that big fiberglass repair job to begin !
@BarefootTravels4 жыл бұрын
Yes! We are so excited for the workshop. The plan is not going to affect the shower walls at all! Just in case someone wants to change it back someday. Yes we will have electricity in the yard and water! So are we! We are looking forward to getting some of the bigger jobs ticked off the list! Cheers!

Thank you!! We’re hoping to only be on the hard for a couple months but I have a feeling it could be longer! 😆

I did not understand when you where talking about the work shop ,I was thinking you where going to remove the head and I did not think that was a good ide but what you did was geniuses : ) You still have the toilet and if ever needed you can still use the shower ,
@BarefootTravels4 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! Whoever takes over the boat after us can convert it back to a shower or leave it as is! Super easy! Cheers!!

I almost feel like I’m going home. I spent(through KZbin that is)a fair bit of time in that yard with Joel and Michal, so I’m looking forward to this next chapter in your adventure

Yes they have told us all their stories! It’s going to be “hard” but we are looking forward to it

If your keeping that tool shelf in the shower permanent, with that emergency hatch be careful with load shift when at sea ,that could be disastrous
@BarefootTravels4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is plans to secure everything before we head out to the open seas!
