Pathetique is translated as pathetic in English. It means sad and painful in this song. Not necessarily meaning very poor. Beethoven composed this piece when his girlfriend dumped him after helping him in his music performances together when he became deaf. He was agonized and sorrowful as an obvious result for a while. First movement emphasizes shock, second movement indicates grief and third movement express his emotional healing.

No, a 'piano sonata' usually has three movements, typically a fast 1st mvt in sonata-form, a slow 2nd and fast 3rd mvt. 'Sonata-form' has exposition, development and recapitulation sections. For example, mvt. 2 is in a different key, tempo and has completely unrelated themes to mvt. 1. Hope this helps!

Piece starts off at Grave (typically 20-30 bpm), so the first quarter note should be held around 2 seconds and it goes at that tempo from there. Also, Vylsith, of course tempo existed. It wasn't as much of a science as it is now, but the use of words such as allegro, largo, adagio, etc. as tempo markings originated in the 1600s.
