I remember I only played flankrik twice, first time because team comps were fitting. I felt invincible there, totally carried. And then the second game happened right after because I felt ecstatic about that playstyle and I felt completely useless... It really depends on how both teams are going to play.

I haven't really played flankrick a lot, but maybe I might not be that off with my experience playing Barick. Normal shotgun works if you're going against enemies that are easy to headshot (or if you just got a pretty good aim, really), if you're going against really mobile enemies or if you want to duel people at close quarters. Tinkering gun works if you want better jiggle picking potential in a map with a lot of cover and long ranges, or if you're going against enemies with low mobility, since the bullet is a slower projectile that can be easily dodged by highly mobile champions.
