I am 39, as a child grew up in the Highlands of PNG listening to this great man sing; whether sung in English, local Kuanua or Tok Pisin, Late John Wong tops it all. The advance in the music industry in PNG is attributed to the foundation laid by people like him. RIP, Sir.

I grew up with Barike songs back in Mendi and to POM back in 1980s,1990s.Still the best Barike albums released at PGS.....One night I had an opportunity singing with late John Wong at gordons Police barracks back in 1990 as last Wong was playing his guitar and we sang Honiara Nil and King Blong Redlight and it was early hours of the morning at 530 and 6am.

"Honiara Nil" I grew up in a time when songs like these were playing on the airwaves as hits. Beautiful days, childhood memories etched deeper into my mind coz of these oldies. What a time to be alive 😍😇

There are two Kerema songs which has the phrase "Solwara Meri"..Solwara meri is not sung by Basil Greg,it's by Holliemaea band whose singer,Mr Robert Oeka, sounds just like Basil Greg.."It goes like this "SOLWARA MERIO,NOKEN I KARAI LONG MI" etc etc... The song you metioned above "Wan solwara Meri Solomon Island" is sung by Basil Greg.
