Thank you for the video, I have the same guitar and love it for much the same reasons as you. I think that the thicker strings are why it has fuller body and louder output, most likely? Which is the whole point of this guitar. It screams and I love it!!

What's the deal exactly? I've read lots of peeps from the rock and metal scene use baritone guitars. This became notorious in the eighties as more musicians started playing around with drop tunings, which gave a need for extended range guitars and baritone guitars. Even some popular ones, like Pat O'brien (from Cannibal Corpse), who uses one in order to play in G# because he uses a Floyd Rose tremolo system, James from Metallica has used one on a song from Saint Anger (the guitars weren't so bad on that album, but the lack of solos hurt and everything else wasn't that great, especially the snare drum with no snare, but that's my personal opinion), Robbie Flynn from Machine head uses one and has his signature model, I believe. John Petrucci from Dream Theater has also used them on some songs. So why is this such a shock to everyone, literally there's like loads of videos on KZbin with "Can you play Metal on a Baritone guitar?" I mean, yeah, short answer. Of course, You can play metal on everything really, even on a kazoo if you're crazy enough (I've played Madhouse by Anthrax on one at school so I know what I'm talking about, lol) but I mean baritone guitar seems to be like the one thing that seems perfectly suited for metal (you know, it's a guitar, but lower and therefore, theoretically, heavier). You know what's more? You can also shred and play rhythm guitar parts for metal on a bass, if you distort it correctly, i know a kid on YT who's done that and literally played Slayer style stuff on a distorted bass. So to me this type of question is like "can you play metal on a seven string?". I originally came hear after searching up can metal be played on a strat, now that was surprising. Also, could you replace a strat's regular guitar strings with baritone guitar strings and make a ...baritone strat??

Love the video you sound amazing man! Not sure if you’ll see this but I noticed you have a digitech drop pedal and was wondering how you like it after having it for a few years? Been very interested in getting one myself along with a nice baritone guitar. Thanks!
@JGuitar1292 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yup, I still have my Digitech Drop to this day and still love it and use it regularly. It's definitely a must for any pedalboard in my opinion since you get to experiment with different tunings without having to use a heavier string guage. It's also still the best Pitch Shifter pedal on the market (the only thing close to it I hear is the Drop Tune Effect built into the Quad-cortex).

I bought the ESP LTD MH-400B and I find it a bit too bright plus the palm mutes lack sustain. Not sure what to address in order to improve those.
@JGuitar1295 жыл бұрын
patrick gallant I understand what you mean about the Baritone being a bit too bright compared to a 7 String, but it’s mainly the pickups. Maybe you could swap out the EMG’s for another pair? I’ve been hearing some great stuff from Fishman pickups!

could be tuned c standard with thinner string set 12-60?
@JGuitar1295 жыл бұрын
I believe it can, but I'd try maybe a set of 52 - 9 or so instead.
@elijahfiest62885 жыл бұрын
is drop c doable on these
@JGuitar1295 жыл бұрын
I believe it is, but you'd probably have to use a 52-09 string gauge or lighter.
@elijahfiest62885 жыл бұрын
@@JGuitar129 would the length compensate for the spaghettifying of the strings? or is that tuning just more suited for a regular scale guitar?
@JGuitar1295 жыл бұрын
@@elijahfiest6288 It would make the strings a lot tighter, but I still think it's best to use a standard scale 25.5 guitar for drop C with some heavy strings over a baritone. For a baritone I'd just recommend Drop A and below just to be on the safe side.
@gabreeul93415 жыл бұрын
It is Doable with lighter strings like 10s or 11s depending on the scale lenght but its really not necessary to have a baritone to tune to drop C, a 25.5 normal scale guitar Will already handle pretty well with some 11s or 12s on it. With a Baritone you usually would use at least Drop A# to lower

@seldomright8695 жыл бұрын
Of course it's good for metal. It's practically a 7 without the high e.
@Casper-jh3el4 жыл бұрын
Now I have a question. Can I tune a baritone guitar to Drop A # if the standard strings are on it? Would it damage the strings? Or would it be better to pull thicker strings on a regular 6-string guitar / or buy a standard 6-string guitar that can handle Drop A # tuning well. Because I'm thinking of buying this guitar.
@JGuitar1294 жыл бұрын
So, the cool thing about the baritone guitar is that you can put lighter strings for lower tunings. With Drop A# for example, you can probably get away with a 56-9s or so where as on a regular 6 string you'd have to at least have 60-11 and up.
