Great bushcraft knife, well explained, take care, Taro

Thanks for watching Taro. I've been using this and an LT Wright, and a Helle blade almost exclusively lately. The trio have become my favorite set up. Then I also use the BKT Golock or the Parang as my choppers. I'm finding that they are a perfect desert setup.

Nice review. I've been thinking about one of these for a while. Looks like the sheath is different now, based on the Blade HQ link.

+a4t5fan I probably have 4 or 5 top blades. This is on the list. I have been using it today. I've had it on my belt all day long.

how would you compare this to a gunny hunter and a bravo 1 lt hunter for a do it all hunting, camp, bushcraft knife ?
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
+midwestoutdoorsman It is a little bit smaller. I like knives that are 4-5 inches in the blade, because they are easier to control, so take that into account. This does the job. Honestly this Bushcrafter, or the Bravo 1 or Gunny Hunter are very alike. Really there aren't many differences except size. The notable exception is that this has a Convex ground Scandi blade. The other two are straight convex ground blades. I prefer this over the other two but you can't go wrong with any of them. I say get what fits your hand and any of them will do the job of an all around hunting, camping, bushcraft knife. But as for me I use the Bushcrafter over the other two because it's not as big and it will do everything. If you want a big knife get the Golock or a hatchet.

Also noteworthy that this blade, aside from the bradford bladehq exclusives, is about the lowed priced fixed blade in CPM-3V that one can find.
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
+Jeremy Madsen This is true. That CPM-3V has held up with some serious abuse that I have given to it.

+TJack Survival I have the Bradford in Bohler m390 and a friend has it in CPM-3V, the m390 microchips under extreme use and the 3V just rolls and you can strop it and not lose any metal. CPM-3V is the clear winner and my next Bark River purchase.

much easier to make convex grind by hand compared to a true Scandinavian grind. I love both grinds. both grinds have their strengths. scandi is great for wood carving, it is sharper and allows for consistent thin feathering. convex is tougher, it gives you superior wood breaking/splitting. Best thing about convex grind is the ability to switch between fine thin cuts or deep bites cut into wood.

Exactly! The obvious words of an expert woodsman.

Were you using the lanyard hole as a bow drill bearing block? Interesting approach. I am sold on that knife and I hope to get to play with one some day. Nice video my friend.
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I saw that some time ago. It works surprisingly well with a bunch of knives.

Can you sharpen a convex grind with a stone?
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
You can. But the best thing to use is leather glued to a board with some Bark River Black magic. That is a type of grit in a grease like suspension. It's like jeweled rouge. I'm making a video on this topic sometime this week that will post a few weeks later. So be sure to subscribe. I'll try and get it done soon.

what????? CPM knives are way way way way wayyyyyy better than D2
@TJackSurvival5 жыл бұрын
Aiden Lin not when they get big. It’s more brittle in larger blades. That’s why you don’t see as many choppers in CPM
@aidenlin98785 жыл бұрын
True, thanks for the reply? thats such an old video lol. In that case i would agree that D2 is better when made for choppers. but 3v, S35vn, cpm 154 and elmax is better for small bushcraft blades.
@TJackSurvival5 жыл бұрын
I can agree with that.

Only thing I don’t like about bark river are the grinds
