Glad you left the door problems in the video. It's a good way to learn. I liked how the shower door was like a barn door as well. At least it looked that way to me.

With all the videos on KZbin “Amazing shower remodel” which are all the same and rarely teach you anything, this video is one of the most informative. Especially the swearing, it’s good to know that we are all in the same boat. On a serious note thanks for sharing your way to “fix it”, it’s hard when you are close to the finish line to go back and cut holes. Thanks for the honest recounting of your work!

Thanks Ben! I left out some of the swearing after that second toggle bolt mishap, 😆

I installed the same door. I knew that the studs weren't going to line up. I also knew from experience not to trust drywall anchors provided by manufacturer. I paused the install a day then went and got myself a header board. Great video. I know the frustration of everything going wrong on what is supposed to be a simple in and out job.

This channel is awesome. I hope it continues to grow and bless you and your family the way you are trying to help others. Im also Glad you kept that issue with the drywall hangers in. Thats how real construction work goes. You’ve constantly got to adapt and overcome. Very rarely do things go the way they’re planned.

I was so frustrated with those toggle bolts, 😆 I could of easily edited out and made the whole thing easier…..but there’s enough fake videos out there, 😆 none of this stuff is as easy as it may look sometimes 👍

Yeah, that’s why your channel is so good. It’s the real deal. Especially younger guys coming into the trade who are trying to learn. They NEED to know that this is the way things happen on real job sites. Not like they show things on HGTV 😂.

Man! I ran into this yesterday! I planned on using the toggle bolts today. I put the anchors in the wall last night, and thought I would have it finished today. Now it’s got me worried since I saw how those anchors went right thru the wall. Do they not have anchors that are the size of the lag bolts that come with the barn door installation kit? I don’t want to get into cutting the drywall and installing 2x4’s. So glad you did not take out the bloopers. There are so many easy diy videos out there. It’s nice to see the real deal!!! 😊

Thanks for sharing the mistakes learned along the way! Note to self…. Don’t order the door package too early. I couldn’t live with the door result, it would drive me crazy being so wide like that. Thank you for sharing 😊

When the toggle bolt went into the wall I was like "Yes, that's exactly what happens when I use those crap things!!". So funny :)

Good video, appreciate seeing the mistakes and fixes. Just bought a house and the master has a door cut in two and double opening. It’s weird and loud. Going to do a barn door.

This was a great video! We are doing same as you! And we have trim around door also, which we didn’t want to remove! I had no idea there was a soft close to barn doors. I’m even more excited to have this for my laundry room. How is the sound difference between the 2 doors? We might run into trouble w a light switch tho!

Beautiful end result. What was the cost? I just finished a very similar size bathroom, but with a new tub and tile

Awesome video, we are having a custom tile shower installed and having all the drywall replaced. 480 sq ft of drywall and the shower is around 120 sq ft of tiles, do you think $9300 is to much?

Man, you looked exhausted. Hope you get some down time. Thanks for making the video. I like how you blocked the railing. It takes you like 20 min and would take me all day. I'm a couple of months away from hanging my own, nice to see how a pro does it.

Honestly even if you would have been able to make the toggles work I don't think it would have lasted over time, that's a lot of weight and also with people constantly opening and closing the door they most likely would have come loose or pull thru the drywall.
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Fully agree. Those toggle bolts are crap. They would have come loose eventually. Especially not hitting any studs at all 👍

All sorts of privacy issues with a barn door on the bathroom. I see it in the wrong places on too many remodels.

A bi-fold door, like on a boat, could work well here and still allow the owner to place furniture on the outside wall.
