Barn Find Corvette Stingray Update! Rear Differential Service!

This is the 13th installment of a series restoring a 1974 Corvette Stingray. On the road again! Found in a barn in rural Pennsylvania, this "Shark" generation C3 has found a new home....APEX DETAIL! The third generation Corvette, patterned after the Mako Shark II concept car, was introduced for the 1968 model year and was in production until 1982. C3 coupes featured the first use of T-top removable roof panels. It introduced monikers that were later revived, such as LT-1, ZR-1, Z07 and Collector Edition. In 1978, the Corvette's 25th anniversary was celebrated with a two-tone Silver Anniversary Edition and an Indy Pace Car replica edition of the C3. This was also the first time that a Corvette was used as a Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500

I feel your pain Bryan. I had the 5.3 stroker in my mach 1 rebuilt. waited on custom pistons for what seems to be an eternity due to the pandemic. Everything is put together, only to find out that we were sent the wrong lower intake manifold gasket set. btw, my tech/friend forces the fluid in with air pressure by punching a hole in the bottle force feeding it in.

I used this technique to fill my transfer case under my truck last year.. Works great! I put some tubing through a hole in the cap and drilled a small hole for the compressed air near the middle of the jug, so when I tipped it, it naturally flowed into the tubing and the air didn't bubble it too bad.

What a difference in the paint, car looks good. LOL HKS and APEXi stickers? You have the most JDM '74 Corvette in the world. I worked for HKS at a time in life, I don't think there was anything in the catalog for for any Corvette. Coincidentally, I worked for Sparco along time ago too, you have good decal taste.

Car looks great! My car is a continuous project. On my 5th engine, countless clutches and 4 transmissions. I just keep selling the old ones and upgrade to a newer engine. Replacing a working fuel pump next weekend only because the pitch changed when I turn the key on.

Josh Russell RP does the best job quieting the C3 limited slip “pop” out of all the brands I tried. Including Amsoil. So in this particular case ... I will continue to use with confidence.😁

I watch a lot of old LeMans races just because it was a much bigger diversity among the cars. Today everything is just so calculated and streamlined in many ways. The Corvettes with their roaring V8s are always a treat. Your car looks fantastic and with your experience with these cars it is really fun to tag along for the ride. I love the style and the choices you have made. By the way I watced NASCAR from Pocono this weekend. Double races. Love to watch NASCAR even if I have to stay awake late at night here in Europe. Never made sense to me why they didn't put a second drain plug on the bottom of diffs.... Easy to drain ALL of the fluid. You need some bigger tires to fill up those wheel wells Brian.

That oil was really nasty indeed haha, it sure was needed to replace it! Well the previous owner should have done it years ago by the looks of that oil 😅. You have to love that sound !! :D

That's the exact way I service my diff as well. I always make sure I crack the fill cap1st before the drain. Seen to many problems. Great vid Brian!

Car needs to be level to get a accurate reading on the fill line. The front needs to b up in the air the same as the rear. Love the Le mans headlights btw. a great alternative to the vacuum flip ups
