wow wouldnt like to be a crab with a parasite, like the "egg releasing dance" is absolutly TERRYFYNG Edit: Crab fact#1 Crabs eat their offspring,and thats not uncommon on nature, heres an example, hamsters eat their own offspring too, mostily because of overpopulaton issues,yea thats kinda messed up but, nature is'nt fair or easy, is just the way It is
@chitinskin9860
@chitinskin9860 2 жыл бұрын
Crabs don't need the parasites to do that "dance", uninfected crabs typically do the same motions whenever their own eggs start to hatch, they need to dislodge them somehow and spazzing out is their best option, without it the babies would be stuck, so you probably would find looking at a crab spawning session in general equally as terrifying.

Acorn barnacles used to be very prevalent on oil platforms in the gulf of mexico. In the areas where the water is crystal clear blue an invasive species called orange cup coral has taken over and choked out the barnacles in all but the shallower waters. This has caused a fish called the blennie to thin out and be replaced by other fishes. The blennie survived by hiding in the empty barnacle shells. The cup corals grow on top of everything and covered their homes. This has happened within the last 27 years that I have been a commercial diver.
