Crowd sitting there giving a nice, polite round of applause completely oblivious that a children's choir anywhere else in the world don't even come close to sounding this good and in unison with the tip-of-the-tongue articulation, breathing, volume and holding of their notes. Then add in the degree of difficulty that comes from seamlessly polyphonic blending with the Pigekor through matching the correct volume, and maintaining the unison controls already mentioned when the Pigekor were providing backing singing. Finally add in the degree of difficulty of doing this with a conductor whose style was probably foreign to them. It's insane how good that was from the Bornekor when you consider that they're aged between 7 -11 years old AND ONLY PRACTICE 2 HOURS A WEEK. Meanwhile the crowd are politely clapping like "Oh yeah, seen it done a million times..." It is of absolutely no surprise that some of the older singers in DR Bornekoret are now currently in DR Pigekoret themselves, and some of the younger ones are in DR Juniorkoret biding their time...

A quick Google translation: I am the street of your childhood I am the root of your being I am the beating rhythm In everything you long for I am your mother's gray hands And your father's troubled mind I am the earliest dreams Light, misty webs I gave you my utmost seriousness One day you were wildly abandoned I sprinkled a little sadness in my mind A driving rainy night I once knocked you to the ground To harden your heart But I carefully raised you up again And wiped away the tears I am the one who taught you to hate I taught you harshness and mockery I gave you the strongest weapons You must know how to use them well I gave you the watchful eyes On them you will be known again Do you meet someone with the same look You know, he's your friend I am the street of your childhood I am the root of your being I gave you the watchful eyes On them you will be known again Do you meet someone with the same look You know, he's your friend And you hear cleaner tones Voted for a more beautiful song Do you long for my voice Cracked and awkward sound Did you fly across countries that far? And did you grow out of your friend? I am the street of your childhood I always know you again I am the street of your childhood I am the root of your being Give you the watchful eyes On them you will be known again Do you meet someone with the same look You know, he's your friend Yes, I am the street of your childhood I am the root of your being And I am the beating rhythm Everything you long for Did you fly across countries that far? And did you grow out of your friend? I am the street of your childhood I always know you again

You can have the lyrics here :-) I am the street of your childhood Jeg er din barndoms gade I am the root of your being. Jeg er dit væsens rod. I am the throbbing rhythm Jeg er den bankende rytme In everything you long for. I alt hvad du længes mod. I am your mother's grey hands Jeg er din mors grå hænder And your father's worried mind, Og din fars bekymrede sind, I am the earliest dreams Jeg er de tidligste drømmes Light, foggy webs. Lette, tågede spind. I gave you my great solemnity Jeg gav dig min store alvor A day you were wildly abandoned En dag du var vildt forladt I sprinkled 'a little melancholy in the mind Jeg dryssed' lidt vemod i sindet A night in pouring rain. En drivende regnvejrsnat. I once beat you to the ground Jeg slog dig engang til jorden To make your heart hard, For at gøre dit hjerte hårdt, But I raised you gently up again Men jeg rejste dig varligt op igen And wiped away the tears. Og tørrede tårerne bort. It's me who taught you to hate Det er mig der har lært dig at hade I taught you hardness and mockery. Jeg lærte dig hårdhed og spot. I gave you the strongest weapons Jeg gav dig de stærkeste våben You need to know how to use them well. Du skal vide at bruge dem godt. I gave you the watchful eyes Jeg gav dig de vagtsomme øjne You will be recognized because of them, På dem skal du kendes igen, If you meet someone with the same look in their eyes Møder du en med det samme blik You must know that he is your friend Skal du vide han er din ven I am the street of your childhood, Jeg er din barndoms gade, I am the root of your being. Jeg er dit væsens rod. I gave you the watchful eyes Jeg gav dig de vagtsomme øjne You will be recognized because of them, På dem skal du kendes igen. If you meet someone with the same look in their eyes Møder du en med det samme blik You need to know he is your friend. Skal du vide han er din ven. And if you hear cleaner chords Og hører du renere toner Tuned to a lovelier song Stemt til en skønnere sang You will long for my voice' Skal du længes efter min stemmes Cracked and awkward sounds. Sprukne og kejtede klang. Did you flew so far across countries Fløj du så vidt over lande And did you grow apart from your friend? Og voksede du fra din ven? I am the street of your childhood Jeg er din barndoms gade I will always recognize you. Jeg kender dig altid igen. I am the street of your childhood, Jeg er din barndoms gade, I am the root of your being. Jeg er dit væsens rod. Gave you the watchful eyes Gav dig de vagtsomme øjne You will be recognized because of them. På dem skal du kendes igen. (And then it repeats)

@@frederikhyrup2871 The original *song* was by Anne Linnet and the song was based on (not a direct copy of) a poem called 'Barndommens Gade' by Tove Ditlevsen. The poem was released as part of a collection called 'Lille Verden'. 'Blinkende Lygter' was another collection of poems, which I do not believe 'Barndommens Gade' was part of. You might have remembered the start of the poem 'Blinkende Lygter' from the collection of poems of that same name, and thought that was from the poem 'Barndommens Gade'.

@QP300 4 жыл бұрын
I believe it's meant to symbolize childhood - running around barefoot without a care in the world. The song is called "The street of your childhood" - you can read a translation of the lyrics elsewhere in the comments. It's a poem by Danish author Tove Ditlevsen, published in her book "Barndommens Gade" (The street of your childhood) in 1943. The book is about the girl Ester and her upbringing in 1930's Copenhagen and the impact your neigborhood has on you. The lyrics was set to music and published in 1986 by Danish singer Anne Linnet, and is today considered a modern classic.

@@QP300 it’s actually a lot less poetic than that. I sing in the choir myself. Because there are so many scene changes in the summer concerts none of the singers were shoes because they would click against the stage and mess up the sound for the sound technicians. So we usually never where shoes when we have summer and Christmas concerts.

@JamesC A google translate of the lysics - it's reasonably fair to the original I am the street of your childhood I am the root of your being. I am the throbbing rhythm in everything you yearn for. I am your mother's grey hands and your father's worried mind, I am the earliest dreamed light, foggy spins. I gave you my seriousness one day you were wildly abandoned I sprinkled 'a little melancholy in the mind a driving rainy night. I once hit you to the ground to make your heart hard, but I raised you up again gently and wiped away the tears. It's me who taught you to hate I taught you hardness and mockery. I gave you the strongest weapons you need to know how to use them well. I gave you the watchful eyes you must recognize them, you meet one at a glance you must know he is your friend I am the street of your childhood, I am the root of your being. I gave you the watchful eyes you must recognize them. You meet someone right away you must know he is your friend. And you hear cleaner tones voted for a prettier song do you long for my voice cracked and jagged sound. You flew so far across countries and did you grow from your friend? I am the street of your childhood I always know you. I am the street of your childhood, I am the root of your being. Gave you the watchful eyes you must recognize them. You meet someone right away you must know he is your friend. Yes, I am the street of your childhood, I am the root of your being. And I'm the throbbing rhythm in everything you yearn for. You flew so far across countries and did you grow from your friend? I am the street of your childhood I always know you.

nokennoed There are some pretty BIG mistakes in this translation (sry not sry). First of all, it’s not ‘grey hands’, it’s ‘coarse hands’. And it’s “I am the earliest dreams’ light foggy webs” (light as in ‘not heavy’) I would maybe say ‘I gave you my great seriousness’. Then There’s this odd sentence:”a driving rainy night” the real translation would be “a pouring rainy night”. Its ‘I gave you my greatest weapon’ -one weapon... not multiple This weird sentence: “I gave you the watchful eyes you must regocnize them you meet one at a glance you must know he is your friend” which is total baloney, the sentence is supposed to be: “I gave you the watchful eyes on those you’ll be recognized again, if you meet someone with the same gaze, you’ll know that he is your friend” Last but not least we have:”if you hear cleaner tones voted for a prettier song” Which is supposed to be: “if you hear clearer tunes intended for a prettier song” Some of these mistakes are because of how the different languages has different sayings, but google translate doesn’t take these sort of things into account, it translates each word directly, which makes it hard to understand sometimes!
