this video will walk you though the install of the Barnett crossbow crank cocking system. I'm installing this on a raptor fx crossbow, ill show you the all the problems this system has with the raptor crossbow . This is a universal crank system for multiple Barnett crossbows, so its not a prefect fit for this bow. Designed to be fully integrated into the stock of the bow for a low profile, comfortable fit. The handle can be easily adjusted for right or left hand hunters and can be removed after each use. Reduces cocking tension to 17 lbs. It also cost $124.00 on Barnett.com but can be bought on amazon or ebay for much less.
For use with the Quad Series, Wildcat Series, Panzer V, Ghost Series, Buck Commander, Penetrator, Vengeance, Recruit Series, Razr, Brotherhood, Raptor Series and BCX.

I just bought a Barnett Recruit Crossbow last year and found this video very helpful for re alignment for the crank pulley string

the rope is supposed to go through the accudraw sled pulleys and connect the two hooks together. Then you spread the two hooks apart and place the string between the two hooks into the groove thats made into the crossbow stock right above the anchors. Its supposed to be used just as you would use a manual rope cocker, as this groove gives you more leverage and makes it even easier to cock using either type of cocker.

I shoot a Wildcat C5 and installed this because I hunt from a Summit Viper climber which is a closed face treestand. Because it's closed face I can't get the crossbow into position while up the tree to hand cock it or use a rope cocker. This crank cocker solved my problem. For me it works great. The rubber mount that holds the part that grabs the string mounts behind the scope on the stock and fits well. Evidently the newer design of your crossbow doesn't allow for the rubber mount to work. The only problem I had after adding this was that the rubber holding device doesn't really do a very good job of holding the cocking device in place while using or carrying the crossbow. So I just put everything where it's supposed to go and use a small bungie cord to wrap around it and the crank handle and everything works perfectly and stays out of my way until needed. This also allows me to keep the crank handle on the crossbow without it shifting down and getting in my right hands way. I hope you found a way around your problems because this device has made my crossbow easier to use while I'm in my stand.

The kit now comes with a saddle that installs just behind the scope mount. As stated in the instructions, you might have to order one (no charge) for your specific crossbow. On my Quad 400, the saddle Barnett sent me free snugly holds the pulley cross bar and the saddle has protrusions that hold the pulley legs down and to the front so the string leads are fair and short. When tucked away like this, I can completely ignore the cranking cock and use the rope cocking device. Also, it doesn't touch the scope or mount and there is no interference with using the scope.

Thanks for this video & thanks to Ken below for the additional info. Just bought Barnett Whitetail Hunter II & am having trouble with the regular rope-cocker. I am a small-framed woman & have trouble pulling the handles up above my waist (no problem till then) and first was kind of bummed out after watching your video cause the issue of where to put the darn thing when you're done with it.....but if Barnett really has fixed that issue, then I will probably go ahead & get one.

Great product review and instructions. I had already purchased one for my Whitetail Hunter Pro II, and their instructions are not very clear. I appreciate your clarity. I was lucky cause the WH Pro has a slot for it. Would be nice if Barnett would produce a simple picture of it installed on each bow that it fits. Then we might see the problem of a place to store the string catch before purchasing.

I hook it onto the top of my scope like the other guy did on KZbin. I've got mine set up with a zip tie to where it doesn't put any pressure on the scope at all you don't have to crank it back to keep it in the slot you just push down on it and it stays in this slot. I have taken deer with it this way this year.

The crossbow appears to have a resting place behind the sight and on the stock that the crossbar can clip into try using that.

It doesn't fit the headhunter good either. It's actually easier to use the manual pull. You can't decock the bow either. The sled covers the safety. Barnett should make these to fit each bow specific.

Hi great video and very informative. I've got one on route at present, can I ask should the hooks that go on the string hook underneath rather than on top like you had it, as I've read that when clocking the raptor fx they cocking string should be under hooked rather than over the top... Many thanks for any info or thoughts on this. Atb

Meh, I’ll stay with the rope cocker. It’s faster, and I cut the rope down to size, so it’s both faster to connect/pull, and easier to pocket, than out of the box.

Amazon review: "DO NOT BUY THIS if your expecting to get a "string puller assembly" like its pictures on the box. Now that it's 2015, Barnett changed the "vertical brass pulleys" to a new design which has "horizontal brass pulleys", so now it will torque the draw strings at a 90 degree angle and it's very hard to crank it the last 6 inches and it's really, really hard to get the strings back off the spool. The horizontal pulleys will bind and cut your string. I will add a picture what it looks like now. (It's like a serpatine belt on your pickup motor, and it rides on 6 pulleys and you turn 2 pulleys sideways. How long will it be before you cut the belt). If you can still get a 2014 model, that will work great. But, the new 2015 model change that's not shown on the box cover or instructions will NOT work correctly on the Barnett Recruit or Barnett Raptor. F.Y.I."

Fernando Soltero I'm not sure what you are referring to but I bought this one in 2016 off off of Amazon. All I typed in the search box was Barnett crank cocking system, and I bought it in 2016. The system I bought was used for the ghost 400 and other Barnett Crossbows.

Very informative video. Just picked this up off of a co-worker for 50 bucks. He used it once, didn't like it. The book specifically states Not to use this device to un cock the bow. This is really why I wanted this thing. When you pull back on the spring loaded catch , does the handle want to fly off or can you still hold onto it?

Just watched your video (twice) before installing a Crank Cocking Device on a Whitetail Hunter STR. All I can say is damn! Damn awkward. The crank handle will only attach to the right side. Although there are threads on the left spool the screw will not attach. When stowed, the hook touches my face when trying ro sight in. Fortunately, when installed you can still hand cock the bow. The handles is almost always in the way when firing. Once cocked you have to fiddle with the handle to move it out of the way. Four years later and they haven't fixed this device!!??

it was some that I bought when I was sighting in, they were grouping so tight that the arrows hit the nock and moved them. I didn't notice it until after I fired it. I just put some glue on the nock and it hasn't happened again.

I'm sorry I deleted my other comment where I explained this Amazon review I will writte it again. Nice video and very nice crossbow! I'm considering buying one of these my self but due to an injury in the shoulder I wouldnt be able to use it without the crank so I was curious if you have had any of problems with it like what that amazon review says because in your video I didn't noticed any of that. Now I see there is no such problem right? I was looking to the both recruits the compound and the recurve they have the same stock so I guess they will work fine too. The other thing I wrote was that in that same review there is an image that shows how to hook it to the groove on the stock I hope it helps to solve your problem Thanks for answering (: www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RVDIPJK61EKUU/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_btm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00DT5A0M6#wasThisHelpful

Brock Jones sounds like the string alignment on the crank is off a little. You need make sure that where the string goes in the crank assembly that they're both in the same spot. If they're in the same spot make sure that one strings not shorter than the other.

Unless you have some kind of disability..IE.. shoulder or back problems..you don't need a crank devise. They are slow to reload and noisy. Any normal adult male or female too ..should not have a problem using a rope cocker for any cam style crossbow. The only exception would be the Excalibur recurve style crossbow Matrix series 355..380 405...these crossbows are a bitch to cock unless you have above normal strength.
